Once again, explaining your powers to the enemy and not exploiting your strong points is not a wise move.

There are better ways to show writer's convenience to the readers that isn't face palm levels of bad.

Yes there is because they have done it. Ichigo never explained his bankai, Byakuya commented on what it did. Gin did explain it but only because he was genre savvy enough to lie about it.

However what I do like about this chapter is how practical they were. I was worried they were going to stupidly go against his strength instead of attacking his weakness because of shonen dick measuring

Not the best but I was abit worried this would be worse. I thught Renji would ignore the little guy and just overpower him even with his super power up and regeneration from cheering, but there was still atleast some strategy Not much of course, but take what I can get with this arc

The manner in which Renji's power-up is revealed to have occurred feels like a let-down. While I would have been fine with the idea of his blade only partly acknowledging him and then remedying it later, the remedy being some old guy who just happens to be the "guy who knows true names" as opposed to Renji actually earning true recognition with his zanpakuto-snake spirit is a bit of a cop-out. If I was the snake-zanpakuto, I'd feel like Renji cheated his way to that power.

Well the dude specifically told Renji that Renji was now strong enough to deserve to know. Implying that he simply wouldn't have told Renji if Renji hadn't already put in the effort. He just sort of shaved off a little time.

Also, I realized as I was reading this chapter that this whole multiple names thing has been happening all along with Byakuya which proves two things. One is that Kubo can actually do something relatively consistent. The other is that Byakuya has always been a serious bad ass.

Well, at least Renji's Bankai is now manageable to work indoors...

i actually thought i had lost more chapters than this! been a while since i read an update on Bleach...but things haven't really moved much, which reminded me that i could easily miss the next 4 or 5 chapters and when i come back i would have like, maybe a full fight to read.... maybe.

you know what I dislike about this, we already had a reason his bankai was sub-par. It takes years to master it. We didn't need some retconed BS excuse to upgrade it. Just give him some shortcut method like Ichigo used to get his.
