I think most people consider Die Hard a christmas movie just because it makes it easy to answer questions like this. Then they can feel all smug, see I thought up a non-traditional answer to your question. Which I confess I typically try to do but that movie has become the low hanging fruit of snarky responses.
You hear that? Thats the sound of me sucking all the fun out of the room. You're welcome

I'm not being snarky, Die Hard and Die Hard 2 are great Christmas movies
I thought of another one: Trading Places

Our thing is the 24-hour "A Christmas Story" marathon. I love that movie. It's so aimless that it doesn't make a difference when you came in or what you missed, it's still enjoyable.

Is Donnie Darko a Halloween movie? Cause it's pretty great. Though my favorite is this:
A short film that celebrates the grace and import of ritual holiday celebration itself, and demonstrates the importance of upholding tradition, in a darkly humorous way.

Second, much like my father I had one movie I always watched during the christmas season, for him it was It's a Wonderful Life, and for me its A Christmas Story.

I had also guessed the Home Alone movies, but they weren't having that.
For what it's worth, our company Christmas party had a Family Feud-style game and Die Hard was included in the list of answers for naming Christmas movies, alongside Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Story, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and The Santa Clause (1-3).
This is definitive proof that it is a Christmas movie.

And then you get stuff that should never see the lights of day.
Unless you're Rifftrax.
