It's an interesting stylistic choice for a new Aquaman, trying to break away from the usual idea of a character that has often become something of a joke in pop culture, but he still looks incredibly bland. To me he doesn't look like someone who would be Aquaman: he looks more like something that came out of that Vikings show on the History channel.

DC is still stuck in the Dark Knight bandwagon, trying to make EVERY character dark and gritty just because Dark Knight did it and made a lot of money. Dark Knight was a huge success partially because it was so different at the time. It pulled comic book movies out of the rut they had been in. Now ALL of the comic book movies are like the Dark Knight, and I think people are going to get bored of it. I think that's part of the reason why The Avengers did so well in theaters: It had drama and real life problems, sure, but it was also bright and funny and a little bit outlandish and full of character. But we'll see, I guess.

And for the record, I'd TOTALLY go see a movie about the Batman: Brave and the Bold's Aquaman.

I hear its supposed to get darker and grittier for the Avengers with the 2nd one and onwards. But I guess we'll just have to see.

To be fair the Marvel movies have been pretty good about combining the serious drama elements with the comedy interspersed to break the tension and occasionally point out the absurdity of everything. This is the biggest failing about DC stuff, as there is nothing other than the dark and gritty totally serious grimdark all the time forever, to the point where is gets a little depressing.

Fair enough, but Iron Man 3 tried that, and while it DID have some good funny moments, the dark, gritty realism just felt wrong somehow. Not to mention how much it clashed with the glaring unrealistic plot holes, but I digress.

It's not necessarily for the Aquaman movie. I'm guessing Unite the Seven refers to the members of the Justice League just as easily as it does the seven seas.

I'm annoyed that Grant Gustin can't be the movie Flash as well as the TV Flash. That's one of my favorite shows right now.

Re: Tv Flash vs. Movie Flash... DC can keep slicing up it's continuity, I guess. It worked in the Golden Age when these characters exsisted in, essentially, their own worlds.

I think Marvel's model gives each peice a kind of safety net due to fans wanting to 'get the whole story' whereas I can and am picking and choosing which DC based media I want to get into. So far, Flash and Arrow have my attention. Man of Steel-verse and the CBS Supergirl do not.
