I was on Newgrounds, waiting for a Final Fantasy Chocobo Mix flash to load up, when lo and behold, there's a pre-loader! A month after seeing it (and forgetting I'd watched it already), I paid closer attention and saw some reference to this "8-bit theater" thing. A hop, skip, and a google later, and I was spending a week or so catching up a couple hundred episodes.

The gamefaqs FFI message board. Ya know, before the owner sold out and it turned into corporate nazi central. I think you get banned now for awknoleging the existance of anything other than gamefaqs without paying them money.

Well as I remember I was looking for final fantasy 7, 8-bit sprites. You see I enjoy animating gifs. I typed in a search and here I was. Over a period of about 3 months I had caught up to the latest episode.

Hmm. I'd have to say, I was reading some of my other comics, then I decided, hey, let's check out some of these links. Lo and behold, there was 8-Bit Theater. And I was hooked. Instantly hooked. O_o I love you 8-Bit Theater... It's got to be my favorite sprite comic ever... I haven't found one I like better. The characters are interesting, and they make me laugh... Who doesn't like that? Ahh... I'm so happy to find something I can enjoy.

I had first heard about 8-Bit froma link on Mark Shallow's site, Adventurers. 8BT was still in its infancy, and honestly wasn't that good. A few years later, due to the funny 8B5-evil on the attack flash, I came back, to find the adventures freakin hilarious.

An old friend of mine who most commonly goes by the nom de plume, Xzean, introduced me to 8-bit Theatre in the Spring of 2001, if I recall correctly. For a while, I read once or twice per month, but in late 2002 I started reading more frequently, and these days I read each episode within the hour of its posting.

My brother: Hey, have you seen Eight-Bit Theatre/Theater?
Me: Nope. Minutes later: [Neither acronyms nor emoticons nor a combined force of these can describe our mutual laughter]

I was chatting in IRC, when a friend of mine linked me to the first "HADOKEN" comic shown in 8-Bit Teather. That one (and the explosion in the next one) hooked me forever. :bmage:
