I have a friend here at college who owns a copy of After Effects and he asked me if I wanted a "discounted copy". He's also trying to get me Avid movie studio. Together I'll have about $3000 worth of software to toy around with my projects.

If you can get student discounts for that kinda software - do it. It saves you so much money. I paid only $700 for the Adobe Professional Suite, and it's twice that on the market.

I think by discount, he meant an illegal copy, but didn't want to say it for fear of us glaring angrily. although, bootleg programs are pretty much all my comp runs on anyway.
