Faith can extend itself far otuside the realm of religion. I have faith that perhaps some day, all events could be formulaically described.
I'd like to point out that no, I don't think the future can simply be predicted with the right numbers. That could only work if you knew the position and velocity of all particles in the universe, and only if there is no random factor involved. The former is supposed to be impossible, and the latter I can't be sure of. As such, no, I'm not making any such claims. In short, I didn't claim such a thing to be true. What I said was that I believed it. My only real backing for this belief is the partial beginnings of such an mighty chunk of knowledge that humans have already created. Fortunately, not everything I believe in has to have been incontrovertibly proven; or rather, I would not be too shocked should some particular beliefs of mine be proven wrong. |
