Back onto your post: I'm trained. My 10-gauge is only brought out in the direst of circumstances. Not all people are homicidal maniacs. If you're nice, I'll only use the .22.

I'm actually quite amazed there isn't a ban on the ten-gauge. If you've ever fired one, seen or heard one, you just know any human being caught in the shot cloud at close range would be turned into a puddle. Of course, my shoulder gets turned into a puddle too and has to be carefully rehabilitated over the course of a few days.

If you don't like guns so much... my advice is to try one. Go out, get a .22LR, and go plink yourself silly at an indoor range until you can tolerate it. It's a great way to vent.

So, I'll phrase my stance as this: Guns are awesome if used safely and recreationally. Competing at a rifle range is just incredibly fun. But there is overkill. Unless you are a said competitor and are going for the big bucks at nationals, there is no need for a civilian to own a 12.7x99mm cannon.

Meanwhile, I shall continue to bag deer at 90 yards with a 1.75 ounce 10-gauge sabot. And skybust the geese. (Okay, that's lame. Don't skybust.)

Having guns in the first place gave undue power to people who actually are homicidal maniacs. Even if they trained hard to be a cold blooded killer, they had to train to be able to throw knives and such. Now, if Joe Schmoe goes ballistic he can easily mass murder tons of people, on the spot, without any type of training. In fact training helps because some people aren't going to waste time training, thus decreasing the population that can effectively murder people, and it also teaches one self control. I'm not saying mass murder is common, but you really can't do that with any type of sword... or axe... or throwing knives. Unless you are very very skilled. Or in a movie.

To put it bluntly, my stance is it's giving too much power to the people.

There's nothing wrong with guns in themselves, but it gives a lot of power to someone who, quite frankly, doesn't have to earn it.

Agreed.

Worst invention ever eh? Hmm....

Those containers that tooth-picks come in. I mean, wtf? Why keep something so fiddly in something so delicate and easy to open?

...

Because it's cheap, and a way to hold them all together?

Which containers are you talking about? The plastic around them, the plastic containers?

No, toothpicks come in wimpy little boxes that never stay closed. You have to put them into the neato plastic containers, thus the containers they come in suck royally.

And since we're in contianer territory, I'll put up extraneous packaging as a terrible or worst invention. Who decided that my new gadget has to come vacuum sealed in plastic in a box in styrofoam in plastic in a box that the store then asks if I want in another plastic bag?

They should just not package everything, and just burn a bit of crude oil in front of you, while you back away out of the store...quickly.

Well, I always was a bit of an advocate for promoting renewable energy by running out of fossil fuels as fast as possible...but how much would that little display cost me? I'm not paying more than $3.99 for it, and don't even try sales tax on something like that!

I have a new least-favorite invention. Wanna hear it?

The Windows Key.

Yeah, that's right. As most of us are aware, Microsoft came up with this idea a few years back where they forced every IBM-compatible computer manufacturer to stick an extraneous key directly between Ctrl and Alt that would automatically open the start menu for you. Because, as Microsoft figured out long ago, we're all a bunch of alzheimers patients that need all the help we can get surfing that there intarweb.

The ridiculousness of course, is that most people never use the Windows key. Mostly, it just sits there, waiting for gamers to accidentlly bump it while playing and being thrust out of the game and back into Windows just long enough for whatever was they were fighting to kill them. Good job, folks. You've annoyed me nearly to the point of violent outrage.

As if WoW wasn't annoying enough to begin with...

Wait, so if that's what the windows key does, what does that other annoying button on the right side that shows a list with a little arrow do?

It opens up a slightly annoying drop menu for.... something.

It sucks, but not nearly on the level of the windows key...
