Oh yes, there was a Rescue Rangers game. It was on the PC and at that point one of the most frustratingly hard things I had ever played. This was in the DOS days, so I hadn't played that many games yet, and was just shy of illiterate, but I knew how to type in the command to make the game run. All I remember of it is this thing involving that cat dropping slime from the top of the screen, and I think I was supposed to get to the top, but I never could. Then I'd get frustrated and play mega-man, and get owned by these dogs because game programers back then liked to ignore the rapidly increasing processing powers of PCs, and after an upgrade to Phil and my computer, games would run anout 300 times too fast and make it so some stupid dog could kill me in half a second by repeatedly ramming into me.

Sorry about that rant, but those two games pissed me off.

Anyway, I think the most fun I have had with a game occured after a night on the town followed by playing Katamari for the first time. I had no idea what I was doing, and had to fight the ball to get it to move anywhere, but I was having an awesome time. Good times... If someone bothers to read this post, and then thinks to themselves "Wow, I didn't have that much trouble figuring out how to get that ball to move," this next sentence is directed at you. I already said why it was hard, just think about it. Of course, no one's gonna read any of this post, so it doesnt matter.

The character designer for City of Heroes. Oh golly-gosh, my friend and I must've spent just as much time making heroes, if not more time, than actually playing.

- That card game in Tales of Destiny 2 introduced on the second disk.
- A four character "Purify Weird Soul" on a powerful boss who doesn't die until the last character uses his/her Finishing Strike in Valkyrie Profile.
- Any heavy battles in Halo 2 single player where it's you, the Covenant (regardless of which character you are), and the Flood all mixing it up.
- Every match in Super Smash Brothers Melee that has at least one more PC.
- When I got with my buddies to play Mario Party 5 and they made the greatest jokes about Wario and Waluigi being aggressive pedophiles. The jokes about Mr Bucket were hilarious, too.
- Halflife 2, in Ravenholm. Headhumpers are scary, but immersing oneself in that place is damn fun!
- Survival Mode on Fatal Frame II (XBox).
- The whole Miss Cloud event in Final Fantasy VII, from the moment Cloud and Aeris enter Wall Market to the point they encounter Aps in the sewers.
- In Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64 or XBox), the Undead and Matrix themed stages. Note: In the XBox game, Conker dresses up as Van Helsing when he enters the Undead themed area.
- The final boss fight (all parts of it) on Final Fantasy VIII.
- Dancing to "It's Raining Men" on DDR.

...Yes, I was just joking about the last one. No, seriously!

Number one spot has to go to multiplayer on GoldenEye64. Specifically, getting the remote mines to float, and setting intricate series of traps and rooms of death. That game defined "multiplayer" for me for the longest time. Many fond memories.

Playing "Spider-Man Mode" in Agent Under Fire was pretty fun too. (Accomplished by setting gravity low, turning on the grapple, and going to any outdoors location.) Also that whenever I got the shotgun, everyone else was screwed; that's like the only "next-gen" (after N64 at least) game I can own in.

The night I played Return of the King all the way through on co-op was also pretty sweet.

Ha. Return of the King was awesome, until you actually managed to unlock all the secret characters only to find out that 3 out of 4 of them SUCKED. * Stupid, fat hobbitses!! I did like using the invincibility cheat and playing Multiplayer mode in Gondor, where you're supposed to save three hundred Gondorians before time runs out. Because then, you and your friend can stand right in front of the door and block the flow of Gondorians while attracting the attention of the orcs. We liked to see how many Gondorians we could get killed before they found a way around us. Oh, and ganging up on Smeagol/Gollum rocked, too.

HOLY FUCK.

Someone else who played it.
You know these "holy fuck they played that?" moments? Yeah. That happens every five goddamn seconds over at The Gamer's Quarter.

For this thread: I offer, the PC FPS Enemy Territory. Yes, the whole fucking game. No, I'll specify--oasis. First playing that level and slowlying learning its complexities was a shocker, and it still being fun today is, too. So much depth, so many strategies, so much skill...*swoons*

The final dungeon in Final Fantasy 6. I guess because it's the culmination of all of your abilities.

Monkey Island 2, the first town. Seeing the world of MI transform like that into these lush sprites was so refreshing, especailly since the game also rocked. Oh, what a sad thing that Tim Schafer never got to direct 3 (although I love 3, I just wonder...it would have most certainly be different).

The very first time Half-Life 1 something breaks and shoots out of the wall, and you realise...shit. this is ground fuckin' zero. Not to mention when you get to the surface and lull yourself into a false sense of security for about .4 seconds, until you realise you're still fucked up here.

The Veldt in FF6.

One of the things I love about RPGs is getting to slaughter thousands of creatures without it ever getting easier and easier until it's a chore.

Maybe that's why Gau was always my favorite character.

Honorable mentions to any game that had enemies levelling up with you. Including my favorite RPG of all time, Evolution: World of Sacred Device. Speaking of which, I need to hook up my Dreamcast and get ahold of Far Off Promise...

Someone mentioned Metroid Prime earlier, but they didn't mention the opening. FOR SHAME! That has to be one of the coolest parts of any game I've played. It's just so... cool, for some reason.

But, speaking of Metroid Prime, going through the first one as a newbie to the game is just amazing. Everything's so alive, even if it's all dead, a space pirate or infected with Phazon.

Also, I have to say DMC3 as well. There just isn't really anything more to say than just "Play the damn thing!"

Caertain moments in Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) also deserve a shout out. Especially the Vigoorian Emperor fight. So different from anything before that point in the game...

For my last suggestion, I'll say the time when you finally get free reign over your powers in Viewtiful Joe. It's just fun beating the crap out of things in slow-mo, is all...
