Also, Skweeb can draw a manly pirate beard. Though, I thought you were bigger than that, Skweeb. Still, I approve of this alcohol and pirate related sketch.

Nah, these days I keep my beard trimmed real short. Mostly so I can shave it off at any moment without too much time since I don't have an electric beard trimmer to speed things up anymore.

As for fingers, it was a 4am quicky doodle so I wasn't too interested in nitpicking details in lieu of getting a sketch finished, for the most part. I'll probly add them in if/when I touch it up and color.

Ah yeah. I didn't notice his head problem until you said something, but now I see it. I'll have to try and fix it. ^^ And I'm glad you like the hands, because damn they gave me a hard time. I was going to be done with the lineart the night before, but that left hand just would NOT be drawn, so I had to put it away for awhile, then I got up the next morning, and just sketched a hand on there and it worked perfectly. ^^;

Hah. We'll see. I've got lots of art stuff (and other requests) that I should probably be doing... the Lucas drawing is just a nice destressor thing to work on between classes. ^^ But yeah, I'll try and do more Mother fanart sometime, count on it.

Been watching Pirates 3 too much. I ended up having a dream about being a pirate 'cause I'd watched it so many times. And this was the flag I sailed under in that dream. That's supposed to be a rose. I'm not good at drawing roses.

Also... It is finished!

Sorry it's so huge. That background took forever and a day. I finished Lucas' coloring last week, but I've been working on the background for awhile. I used a picture from Melee to help with it. I was originally just going to be lazy and use a picture for the background, but I decided to be daring/kill myself, and drew it instead. Took 40 layers in all. ...I don't think I'll be able to do a background like that again for awhile.

I'm quite proud though.

Alright, now that that's out of the way, there's one thing I'd like to mention. And that's the overall "flow" of the picture. The background and Lucas are just outstanding in their own right, but together... Just doesn't seem right. Mainly, it's the use of lines.

For Lucas? It's just amazing. Using different widths in various parts, and having a dramatic pose; it just compliments itself, really. Now, the background? There's none. In a metaphorical sense, it's like Lucas is just "shielding" himself away from the background. Now, am I saying that you should go back and outline every. Single. Object. And. Detail in it? Nah.

What I'm trying to get at here, is letting them flow together. The use of color is perfect, but maybe adding some lines near or around him, or various parts of the background would help the eye travel around the picture. Maybe even removing some outline from him to have it better relate to the background, and not have it feel so "alienated" from it.

... Or maybe I'm just over analyzing it. Who knows? Awesome job none the less..

EDIT: I'd also like to add that it would make one kickass wallpaper.

Jotted down some doodle idears that have been bouncing around in my head. Nothin fancy, really. Random concepts thrown together based loosely off various Frankenstein's Monster drawings, zombies, and the ever present enjoyment of the undead concept that I have.
