Screw attack isn't the thing that makes you fly. That's the Space Jump. Totally different.
Only thing 2d Screw Attack did was make your jump into an awesome attack.

I'm well aware of that, but the Prime Screw Attack had the travel power of the space jump built in, only it sucked. It was also useless in combat, which is where the screw attack was always awesome in the past.
Edit: I'm not saying the games were bad. I haven't even got up to using the Screw Attack in Corruption. If it's like MP2 though, it basically exists for the sole purpose of crossing particular pits.

Its just like the charge + jump that can destroy enemies, only it never turns off. With Screw attack, you're basically an invincible monster of destruction. Imagine if in Metroid Prime you could activate the space jump on any regular jump. Would you EVER shoot a flying enemy again? I wouldn't. Also, Metroid Prime was amazing, and Metroid Prime 2 was unbeleivable, but it ramped up the difficulty like a hundred fold. Metroid Prime 3 is fun as hell, and thank god the difficulty has been toned down... I've only beaten Prime 2 once. It was the only time I ever managed to kill that last boss, and, unforunately, i was NOT expecting that final Dark Samus battle... luckily, I got through the dark samus on the first try, otherwise that game would still haunt me like the few... VERY few games I have not yet conquered. In fact, lets check my list. Hellgate: London (this is mostly due to not really trying) Final Fantasy IV (and this will soon be remedied) I Wanna Be The Guy (and I WON'T be beating it. I saw the youtube of a guy who did it, thats close enough for a game this cruel) Super Castlevania IV (no excuses here)

Basically, if you jump into it, you cling on and start sliding down it. If you hit jump, you leap off it. Its a little more complicated than that, but the easiest way to learn is trying it out.  Falling pictures kill you too? Now that's just mean.  The next screen! Simple enough, jump onto the moving platform, then climb the rails and leap onto the platform as it moves under. Then ride the platform and use the couch.  SIMPLE SEE!  The return of the killer paintings!  Hmm, have you been practicing your jumping skills?  LEAP! LEAP LIKE THE WIND!  Half man, half AMAZING!  Platform, climb, fall, dodge spikes, rail jump, couch, dodge spikes!  Don't make me explain this...  And the mighty boss seal is one sixth unlocked. To be continued! I know there's probably some explanation involving the creator pretty much hating everyone who plays the game, but I'm just curious.
Wouldn't it have been easier to just:  I haven't been to that part yet so I wouldn't know.

Something tells me that there's falling spikes or lasers or poison wall or something to keep you from doing that. Just a hunch because of the hate the creator holds towards all who play his game.

Nah, it's just those poles make you jump quite far. It's easier to jump on the platform. By the time you get to that screen it's just cake.
(Steel's progress: Beaten all 6 guardians, damn that Mother Brain, am now fighting the Dragon)
