@ RT: Just pointing out that we don't know anything much about FFversus13, so it's very possible that the two look alike because they're related.

In fact, don't they start fighting at some point? They're pretty much GUARANTEED to be related in some way.

That FF concept artwork is just one example. There are tons of examples out there on how the characters all essentially look exactly the same. Hell, the Cloud/Lightning one is right there in the same post. Saying those two are related is just all sorts of stupidity, and if Square actually says it, well, then the only appropriate response involves the word 'napalm'.

2) It's a perfectly good hypothesis. Mortal enemies being related is a pretty common cliche. I would list a few examples but they'd be spoilers.
3) The Cloud/Lightning thing is perfectly fine because remember that Lightning was SUPPOSED to be "A female version of Cloud".

Actually, I was referring to Cloud and Lightning. But point three reiinforces the napalm thing because Cloud was a fucking horrible character that seemed like the failed breeding of way too many Japanese sci-fi/cyberpunk tropes and cliches.

Because the writing department in Square is full of people who's idea of writing is rehashing every possible trope in the most ham-fisted way possible (much like the variety you would find on any fanfiction site sans the bizzare, akward, disgusting, awful, and impossible porn) but hey it's okay because everything is so shiny and pretty.
