Helen meet beast. He'll be turning you into a murdering psychopath, as you become more and more vampire, and less human.

Beast meet Helen. She doesn't realize what you are yet, so you've pretty much got free reign.

You kids have fun!

I think introducing the beast was a great way of making an otherwise pretty boring area interesting. Chinatown was just a drag compared to everything else in that game.

Nice writing as always 'n shit.

I disagree really. Although this particular section is very boring, the Mandarin (as I think he calls himself) was a very interesting aspect of the section to me, as was finding out more about the Kuei-Jin. Specifically what they are and subsequently wondering how many of them I would have to kill to kill their arrogance (as I later found out, it's impossible).

Well to be fair, demonic beings that have clawed their way out of hell to reclaim their mortal husks have a hard time relating to their more Western brethren who spend all day fighting with one another about who is more closely related to a murderous farm boy.

I thought Chinatown was horribly underdeveloped compared to the other areas. It was a very straightforward area without the little interesting things and attention to detail the other areas had. Hollywood suffered a bit from the same issue, but Chinatown was just dull. And the Mandarin had potential to be interesting, but he got killed off too quickly. You met him, talked to him and killed him. They could have gone places there but didn't.

Bloodlines is, unfortunately, all downhill from here, with the exception of some interesting things like picking sides and running into Nines in the park.

Bloodlines was very rushed from this point on, but I still liked the final sequence after the Bloodhunt. I did, however, HATE HATE HATE Chinatown when you're hunting down Ming Xiao.

Also; Having beaten the game and looking back on the storyline, I gotta hand it to them how much their subtle hints that you only really 'get' the second time around. And I'm not just talking about the Thin Blood chick who tells the future.

Really, my problem with those hints is that it's impossible to understand them if you haven't beaten the game (this is after looking at them after playing the game). However, I still found the "hints" to be awesome.

EDIT: I guess I should mention I'm distinguishing Mirai's use of "subtle" in his post with my use of "impossible". The difference being that subtle is understandable if you look at it for a while, specific time dependent on your problem solving skills and comprehension. Whereas impossible has no distinguishable rhyme or reason without the game providing some framework itself.

This contrasts with the other hints mentioned, which are mostly subtle.

That's why I absolutely love them, actually.

But I wasn't just talking about her.

... hints?

Did I miss something from the writing from DFM or something that's just game specific?

Way back, when Helen was still working for Ms. Split Personality, we met a thin blood oracle who gave cryptic prophecies. She's the one who told us to trust the man on the couch, and presumably there's more available prophesies than we've seen in this LP.
