Now, before you call me crazy, mosey on over to the interest thread to find out just how much this isn?t my fault. Blame Teal?and Krylo?and well?pretty everyone who posted after post #21.

Anyways?

THE SITUATION SO FAR (aka: The Plot!)

The prophesy of the Mother of Hell is one of the oldest known to man: She is destined to give birth to one who has power over the Gates of Hell. Should the child choose to open the Gates, the demonic hordes will pour out in the full strength, almost guaranteeing the end of the world. Should the child choose to close the Gates forever, demons will never be a blight in the world of man again.

As you might imagine, this makes the Mother of Hell (aka: The Chosen?depending on who you ask) into a target for both demons and the humans who fight them. The prophesy has been around for centuries, and dozens of women have been marked as the Mother of Hell?and not one has ever given birth. Most don?t even survive into their twenties.

And now, in the modern day, the tragedy of the Mother of Hell unfolds again.

The Mother of Hell has been placed under the protection of Duncan McCragge, an independently wealth man who also happens to be a psychic with the power to control electricity. Duncan?s wealth, as well as the fact that the McCragge family has long fought against supernatural creatures, made him a favorable legal guardian for the young Mother of Hell. Along with Duncan, a cabal of Protectors had been recruited from the ranks of various anti-supernatural agencies and groups, including the Supernatural Elimination and Containment Agency, the US Government?s black-ops organization created to deal with the monsters, demons, and the like. Under the united care of these groups, the Mother of Hell lived a surprisingly quite life.

In recent days, however, things have begun to unravel. Despite all precautions, it has become clear that demonic forces are starting to close on the Mother of Hell. Taylorsville, where the girl was living, has seen a spike in demonic activities?the highest on record, including a mass possession at the school the Mother of Hell was attending. Local SECA forces, even with help from the other organizations, are hard pressed to push back the influx while both maintaining secrecy and protecting the Mother of Hell.

Realistically, it is only a matter of time before SECA can no longer offer their protection to the girl. Should this happen, the SECA directive will be to terminate the Mother of Hell: take one life to guarantee the lives of billions.

Duncan McCragge has seen this coming, and is starting to plan the Mother of Hell?s escape. But he knows that he and the handful of Protectors who will remain loyal don?t have a chance against the cultists and demons who are already closing in, let alone when SECA and other organizations start to send kill-teams after them.

Fortunately?Duncan is independently wealthy, and his assets haven?t been frozen yet. And Big Bad Wolf Limited, a high powered mercenary private security company that happens to specialize in?unusual situations, is more than happy to take those assets in return for doing the impossible.

The Character Groups

The Protectors: This is possibly the low point for the Protectors. The last few weeks have almost literally been hell on Earth as the demonic forces and their cultist lackeys have slowly been closing in on the Mother of Hell. A goodly number of Protectors have been hurt or killing in the line of duty. To make matters worst, almost all the major organizations have pulled out their people out of the Protectors, and it is only a matter of time before the rest do.

At this point, the only Protectors left on board are those who are in it to the bitter, soul crushing end. Your support networks are gone, but Duncan has done a good job of stocking up, so you are not in want of supplies. At this point, you are also highly experienced in demon fighting: those mercenaries may have shiny, custom toys, but you know how to drop a demon at ten paces with nothing but a shotgun.

Big Bad Wolf Limited: The premiere private anti-supernatural company in the world (despite what those hacks at Sheepdog Incorporated say). Picking up recruits from militaries, anti-monster groups, and various other sources from around the world, Big Bad Wolf Limited has rightfully earned the reputation of being able to handle any situation?as long as the pay is right. They are a professional outfit: once the fee is paid, the Wolves are loyal until the job is done.

If you chose to be a Big Bad Wolf, you are a mercenary who hops from one supernatural hotspot to another?but what are a few nightmares to pulling in a percentage of multi-million dollar deals? Demonic activity is relatively rare nowadays, so those Protectors who you?ve been hired to come in and save think they are better at killing them. On the other hand, most of their stuff is government issue?can you say ?lowest bidder?? Big Bad Wolf Limited supplies their people with custom built gear and weapons. After all why in the world would you want to kill a demon at close range with a shotgun when I can gun it down at 300 yards with a custom built anti-tank rifle that?s painted your favorite color?

Other Groups and Organizations

The Supernatural Elimination and Containment Agency: A secretive, militaristic organization of the United States. Basically, SECA is a law-enforcement agency that has a special weapons and tactics unit that could conquer small countries. Up until recently, SECA provided most of the manpower and funding for the Protectors and other operations involving the guarding of the Mother of Hell. The recent upswing in demonic activity, however, is forcing SECA to change its policy regarding the Mother of Hell?it has simply become too costly, both in money and manpower, to protect a single individual. At the moment, SECA is only phasing back it?s sponsorship of the Mother of Hell. However, everyone knows it is only a matter of time before it starts to hunt the girl. Killing one is justifiable if it means the lives of billions.

The Society of the Gifted: The Society of the Gifted (more often just called ?The Society?, is an ancient order of psychics. Members of the Society have used their special talents to fight the forces of evil for hundreds of years, and the Society is often sited as the oldest anti-supernatural organization on the face of the Earth.

The Society is a major ally of SECA, and has been willing to let the government organization run in the ?lead dog? position on the Mother of Hell situation. It, too, has come to the conclusion that, even if they continue to provide protection for the Chosen, it is only a matter of time before she is taken. However, the decision won?t go entirely unopposed: the McCragges are an old family and have many allies. However, by and large the Protectors won?t be able to count on much support, even from dissaent factions within the Society. SECA kill-teams will likely be supplemented with Society volunteers.

Sheepdog Incorporated: If not for certain factors, Sheepdog Inc could be seen as the sister company to Big Bad Wolf Ltd.

However, those ?certain factors? include the minor fact that the CEOs of the two companies hate each other?s guts.

Sheepdog Inc was founded by Bruce Albert Dorian, who, along with Louis Percy Gray and Robert Ichabod Portrait, were the founding memebers of the first major anti-supernatural private company: Protrait, Dorian, Grey, and Associates. PDG & Assoc was a highly profitable company for many years?until the company dissolved when Dorian killed Portrait and attempted to do the same to Grey to become sole owner of the company. Even the name Sheepdog is meant to be an annoyance to Grey.

Sheepdog Inc, despite its name, is a much crueler organization than Big Bad Wolf Limited. Sheepdog Inc always favors the highest bidder?even if the highest bidder happens to be the opponent of their current client. However, if you can afford to hire (and keep) Sheepdog into your employ, you get an utterly ruthless mob which will get the job done, no questions asked.

Heck, especially if no questions are asked.

It is likely that private individuals will look into hiring Sheepdog Inc once it comes to light that Big Bad Wolf Limited is now tasked with the protection of the Mother of Hell. The organizations have clashed in the past, and there is no love lost between the two.

Vigilante Hunters: The small-time groups take are almost exclusively local organizations. These range from groups of concerned citizens who hunt to keep their families safe to rednecks looking for a good time to sadists who figured out its easier to get away with torturing things that aren?t human. Armed with the knowledge they?ve uncovered in old book or online, and armed with whatever they can afford, Vigilante Hunters are often seen as the grass roots of the battle against The Other Side...whether they are better or worst than the monsters they hunt depends on the person.

Religious Organizations: Many of the major religious organizations have an anti-monster task force, a la Section XIII and the Hellsing organization from the anime/manga Hellsing. The debate rages amongst the various organizations of how so-called ?holy? abilities and relics work. Some argue that it is a specialize subsection of psionics, and that holy relics do nothing more but channel latent psychic abilities.

Their outlook on the Mother of Hell depends on the faction. Some are neutral, some for protecting her, others believe it is for the best that she dies.

You are free to make up your own religious organization if you wish?just avoid insulting other people?s religions, please.

Gameplay Stuff

Psionics: For all intents and purposes, there is no magic.

Well, that?s not true. If you?re a cultist you can trade part of your soul to a demon, and let them dwell within you in return for magic-like powers?but more often than not that ends with the demon wearing you like a badly tailored meat suit at some point.

That isn?t to say that some humans don?t have supernatural abilities. Some people are gifted with psychic powers?often called psionics.

Psychics are very specialized: that is to say that a telekinetic can move objects with his/her mind, but they cannot start fires, and visa versa Psionics also take time and effort to develop, so people who rely on psychic powers have less time to train in more mundane skills, like firearms and hand-to-hand combat. As such, psychics won?t be able to out-shoot normal gunslingers, win a hand-to-hand fight with a martial artists, or use heavy weapons any better than a normal civilian.

Demons:

Why is the Mother of Hell so important in the first place?

Because, with things as they are, demons (or most divine beings, for that matter), cannot freely move between their realm (Hell), and the human realm (Earth, for those of you not paying attention). There are ways, but outside of the Gates of Hell being opened, it takes a rather drastic event for a demonic entity to appear on the mortal plane with it?s powers fully intact.

Least Demons (Possessing spirits): The least powerful demons on Earth are those who cannot manifest themselves in any way. They can control the mind of a human for a limited time, however. While possessed, the body of the human will feel no pain, and as such will continue on even if fatally damaged. However, once the possessing spirit is cast out, or leaves of it?s own free will, the host will bear the full brunt of any damage done to his body. The first skill that the majority of monster hunters learn is to shield their minds from possessing demons, so only the unskilled are in danger of being possessed.

Lesser Demon: Lesser demons are those demons powerful enough to manifest themselves on the mortal plane, but with greatly reduced power. Often summoned by Hell Cults, lesser demons are usually what monster hunters go up against. Though more powerful than humans, any human with the right knowledge and equipment is more than a match for a lesser demon.

Lesser Demon Subtype: Demonic Hybrid: In some cases, a lesser demon has been known to make a ?pact? with a willing human. This allows the demon to use the body of the human to manifest itself, allow it to retain more of it?s power, more often than not at the price of the human?s life, for once the demon is manifests itself, the body is changed beyond repair. Demonic Hybrids are much more powerful than lesser demons since they require less of their power to remain manifest, since they draw on the lifeforce of their willing host. Hybrids are often more than a match for any single hunter.

Lesser Demon Subtype: Blood Summoned: One of the more horrific ways to summon demons is by the way of animal or human sacrifice. Depending on what was used, the demon will be more powerful (for example, a rat won?t grant too much more power, but a bull would increase it?s power quite a bit?and a human sacrifice even more). This is because the demon will use the matter of the sacrifice to manifest it?s new body. Not as powerful as the demonic hybrid, but still a threat compared to lesser demons summoned without a sacrifice.

Greater Demon: Only a handful of times in history has a greater demon been summoned successfully. To summon a greater demon, a blood ritual that requires the life of dozens, if not hundreds, of sacrifices must be performed. Due to the complexity of these rituals, they are extremely hard to plan, and even harder to keep secret. The various hunter organizations have kept the number of greater demons being summoned to a bare minimum?the last known case was in San Francisco in 1906. A number of ?natural disasters? were in fact the aftermath of a greater demon being summoned. Once summoned, a greater demon is a terrible foe indeed. While not immortal, they can take an amazing amount of punishment, and have access to magic far beyond the abilities of humans. In every known case, the demon was destroyed soon after summoning, but always at a high cost in human lives. It should be noted that, even with the complex ritual, the greater demon retains only part of his true power.

Outcasts / Fallen : The most rare case for a demon to become manifest on the mortal plane is for it be an ?outcast? demon or a ?fallen? angel. Outcasts are demons who have broken free of the thrall of a demon lord and have escaped, one way or another from the dark realms and into the mortal plane. A fallen is a divine being who has been exiled from the high planes for high crimes against the order there. Only 3 confirmed cases of this kind of demonic entity appearing exist on the record of all the organizations. The most terrifying aspect of this that these being have access to their full power, since they are physically in this plane, not just manifesting from another dimension. The power of the demon depends varies, of course. Should the Gates of Hell be opened, all demonic entities would rate in this category, having full access to their power in the mortal realm.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you who are curious, Evil's Return 1, Evil's Return 2, Big Bad Wolf Limited.

Alright, I think that was enough rambling. Let?s get his mess going.

Character sheet time!

Character Name: Obvious, no?

Gender: Another category I hope is rather self-explanatory.

Age: Again, obvious, I should hope. In past Evil?s Return RPs, it was basically required that a number of Protectors be the same age as the Mother of Hell. In this case, however, that is not required. If you want to be younger, however, feel free to?as long as you are in the Protector camp.

Organization: Are you a Protector, or a Big Bad Wolf? And if you are a Protector, what was your parent agency? For the most part, feel free to make up your own organization?but I retain vote privileges.

Class: Are you a psychic? A gunslinger? A priest who specializes in the use of anti-demonic relics? You get the point.

Special Abilities: Also rather self-explanatory. If you are a psychic, say what your power is. Do you use holy relics? Say what they do. Are you a gunslinger? Say what special trick shots or whatever it is you can do.

Bio: Ah?everyone loves a good character backstory?with the keyword on that part being good. :p.

Equipment/Belonging: If you?re a gunslinger, what the heck do you sling? If you?re a relic user, what the heck is your relic? Stuff like that, along with any personal touches you want to throw in. Remember, if you are a Protector, you can only get basic military issue stuff. If you are a Big Bad Wolf, feel free to go more exotic, or even make up your own weapons. Just try to keep it modern...no lasers or plasma cannons or the like.

Notes: Like the last few pages of a video game instruction manual, no one really knows what the notes section is good for.

If you have any questions (there is a very good chance that I must of messed something up or didn't explain something well in that giant wall-o-text up there), ask it here or send me a PM.
