Movies The Human Centipede...

So, just finished watching this movie and really not sure what to think of this one. I mean really not sure what to think of it. I generally like shock/horror/psychological-fuck-with-your-mind films..but this? This one eludes me.

The trailer.

I guess what I liked most about this movie was the intentionally slow pace to give emphasis on Dr. Heiter's cold calculating character. Weirded out a fair bit by the theme of the movie in action? Definitely. Which was the point so I spose it hit the nail on the head there.

I've seen all three Feast movies and enjoyed them for their over the top splattery goodness. I've seen The Poughkeepsie Tapes and was thoroughly disturbed on a level rarely encountered in a film..but still enjoyed immensely its psychological aspects.

Human Centipede? I can't make a conclusion on whether I enjoyed it or hated it. Quite a muddled gray area:| Think I'm gonna have to agree with Ebert on this: "[usually] I am required to award stars to movies I review. This time, I refuse to do it. The star rating system is unsuited to this film. Is the movie good? Is it bad? Does it matter? It is what it is and occupies a world where the stars don't shine."

I'll just stop here and pass out for the night lest I end up rambling more about the gray area that is this film. Watch it or don't. There are worse ways to spend an hour and a half.
