Advice: Netbook powers off without warning
Quick Summary: I currently own a Gateway LT3201h. It's a Netbook. The video card runs so hot on this machine that it's capable of inflicting burns (And the Windows 7 sticker on the bottom of the machine is actually singed black).
Normally I'd just point and say "Heating issue, lol" but that... doesn't seem accurate here. The machine will power off while running cold. Full power cut. Usually just as I hit CTRL or Fn. I'm about 90% certain that I'm just going to cash in on that 3 year warranty I bought on this thing from Futureshop (it covers random "This is happening, I don't like it, give me a new one."), but it's always tedious to have to back up all my stuff and set up a new machine. I'm posting to see if there's advice or any known defects that I should know about here, and whether or not to get the same machine and hope for the best, or to grab a similar product off the shelf. Edit: For added reference, I've had the netbook now for 5 months; The issue has been occuring since early november, so roughly 1 month ago. Issue occured 7 times. |
