Tech Support Hooking up PS3 controller to laptop

Sup folks.

I am not what one would call technologically inclined. Basically, I know jack and shit about computers and whatnot. This presents me with a bit of a problem.

I'm trying to hook my PS3 controller up to my laptop so that I can play Mugen without getting cramps from using the keyboard. Now, I've downloaded a driver. The computer is at least recognizing the PS3 controller as a PS3 controller, and the controller itself is lighting up. (All four lights, rather than just the player 1 light.) The trouble is, it's not working. I've tried to calibrate the thing, and it's nothing I do on the controller is reflected on the computer. Does anyone have any idea how to make it work?

EDIT: Whoops. Disregard that; pressing buttons makes everything better. Derp.
