If they didn't exist, claiming you do have mind powers would only help you by making you seem more dangerous and powerful. Since you are being defensive, it is obvious that you do, indeed, have mind-controlling powers.
You should pay that because you want a lake, and because you're an American...far too lazy to do it yourself. Besides, it will stimulate the economy! Go on...pay him. Spread the evil! BMG, you can control minds, but my plans cannot be stopped by you! ;P
