That armour would've absorbed some of the impact, but the net result would have been us removing that armour from a gaping hole in your back. The metal would have been bent into the wound and hot. The heat would have melted your flesh to the armour around said hole. There would have been screaming, bleeding, and broken bone fragments. Your lung(s) would possibly have been punctured, leading to their collapse, leaving you unable to breathe. You'd additionally land a good twenty feet away from where you were originally.

I only just remembered we have a healer in the party now. I could have saved myself a lot of unwanted horror if my imagination had pictured all that gore getting repaired, instead of bubbling, last-wording death.
