I really dont buy into all that "Game Addiction" thing... people can get addicted to -anything-, from Tv to Sex... there isnt that big of a crowd of people who are tully, actually, "addicted" to play video games... at least it's not as big as some media outleds (including gaming blogs) seems to show.
It really depends on how you define addiction. Gaia has a statement in their agreement that they're not responsible for loss of productivity or drops in your grades. I signed that agreement thinking it was just a part of Gaia's humor. Then I got stressed out with college second semester, delved into Gaia, and my grades took a dive.

I actually got addicted to Gaia. Not the games, but just being able to hang out with the friends I made there and speak intelligently with the more mature users who frequented Site Feedback at the time.

So, yeah, addiction can happen with anything. Not necessarily the raving, withdrawal-inducing, chemical-change addiction that drugs cause, but more of a psychological need to escape. You can get caught up in either one, but non-drug addictions are just as hard to kick, not because you can't quit them, but because you could very well be like me and not realize there's a problem.

I'm gone from here for good. This place gave me many memories to take with me and shaped me greatly. I still care about you guys. I just can't stay.
