Star Wars: A New Roleplay
SIGN UPS CLOSED Turn out was much better than I expected. Anyone expressing further interest shall be informed if spots open. Thank you for your patronage. Yes, a Star Wars RP. We're going to be set in the age of the Old Republic, a time of high adventure when the force moved freely. I will, however, be ignoring any and all canonical events, mostly because that way I don't have to try to read up on a bunch of Star Wars history or worry about ruining any of it. So don't be expecting Mandalore to be struck down by Revan, Rakitan Star Forges, Jedi Exiles, or whatever other thing apparently happened then that I can't be bothered to trawl wookiepedia for. DO expect Sith Empires in the unknown regions, verpine engineering, jedi enclaves, hutt crime lords, and other main stays of Star Wars and the time period, however. Especially the crime lords bit. The story shall revolve around the crew of a newly acquired retrofitted sprint-class rescue ship. By retrofitted I mean that your captain (to be decided) purchased it from the interstellar version of a used car shop on the cheap. Its medical bays have been removed, and the interior re-fitted as a smuggling vessel, with the top notch hyperdrive and sublight drives both removed and replaced with slower versions. The RP will start with your first mission after acquiring your new ship. For the sign up I've been working on a play by post RP system that I've had looked over by a couple of people, one or two who knew what they're doing with RP systems, and one or two who didn't afterward, to check for balance issues and readability. We'll be using that system with a few alterations to make it work with the star wars universe. A few things that aren't mentioned in the text files on races: I'm not going to rebalance the system to add ten million SW races, therefore all races are functionally the same because I'm lazy. The exception is droids. Droids vary in a couple of ways: First off most droids have obedience chips installed in them, which means that while players of meatbags obey the captain out of loyalty or whatever else, droids literally must obey the captain unless they can get someone to remove their obedience chip--or the captain decides they're the type to remove their droids obedience chips for fun. Further, droids are affected by ion blasters and grenades and what not much more harshly than meatbags are. They also require a crew member with "Craft: Robotics" to repair them if they take damage. However, as a trade off droids get 5 extra skill points, and "Craft: Robotics" can be used to 'resurrect' a droid so long as its memory chip remains undamaged, or a back up is kept. The same can not be said for meatbags. Oh, and one thing: You'll notice there aren't rules for Jedi. That's because I'm not allowing player creation of Jedi characters at this time. That said, I've attached the rules, if you have any questions on them feel free to ask, and if you need help making a character, feel free to ask for that, as well. EDIT: If you guys do something and it gets you killed, I will let you die. I won't fudge the dice to keep anyone alive. Also, if there's a situation where the RP NEEDS a response from you and it is taking too long, I will probably make you respond. Combat is an immediate thought that comes to mind. Thanks to the 'your entire team goes at once' method, however, it should be a rare situation when I have to do that. Other situations might exist where your character's response is needed before the rest of the team can move on, and again, I may hijack a character for a post just to keep a game from dying. Further, there were/will be random rolls to decide whether characters have force sensitivity. Ergo the 'at this time' line about the jedi.
