I don't think you're getting the whole "no clones, robots, androids or whatever" thing.

Just a normal dude/dudette please.

Basically, your guiding principal should be that the characters backstory shouldn't be anywhere near as spectacular as whatever they end up doing in the rp.

so here's my quick list of PC's with a short, archetypical description of their primary group function.

Krylotron: Jack O'Malley, Hardboiled detective, really getting a leader vibe here but we'll let the group dynamics dictate. The unit probably needs a de facto leader, and so far this guy seems like the most likely character to fulfill it.

Bard: Alexander Dirk, stuck up combat medic. I assume you'll be doing most of the patching up when shit hits the fan.

Nagel: Remy Thunder, beligerant asshole that like to hit stuff. Says the F word a lot. I suspect you'll be punching a lot of fools in the throat.

Dauntasa: Thomas Blair, sneaky, thiefy wheelman. I suppose you'll be doing a lot of the dirty work that comes along with time traveling for profit.

Dante Falcon: Ben Prelane, total nerd. Should the need arise to decipher cryptic messages or ancient texts I'm sure you'll come in handy.

Arcanum Darkfire: Viktor Kalawhatsit: Dirty russian hacker, you will probably be responsible for getting secrets from stubborn computers, and for smelling up the recon van because you don't know what deodorant is.

Sithdarth: Garret (insert last name here): going to be an infiltrator and general spy type I assume?

So, a few more basics. A lot of the paperwork required (and there is a lot of paperwork) is done by a veritable army of clerical workers, so besides a few debriefings and reports after missions, you guys are pretty much free of the onus of horrible, soul crushing filing duties.

The pay is excellent, you can afford to live in a really nice condo or buy a sizeable house. (probably aren't living in a mansion or anything, but you're well off to be sure.)

Since most of your actual work takes place outside the normal timeline, there are times when you get weeks off at a time to do whatever. The return time after mission completion is generall 2 hours after departure, so you can fit a weeks worth of work into 2 hours.

Since your missions occur within a 3 week time period (so far no one has gone back farther than that) you do have access to infrastructure and support from the agency even in the past. You might even run across yourself in the past, which while extremely awkward at first tends to get less and less so the more often it happens.

"Hey Jack, did I end up getting that report done on time?"

"Yeah Jack, you did. You might want to leave out the critical bits pointed at london police though, boss didn't much care for that."

"I think I'll leave it in anyways."

"Yeah, you would."

There is a whole division devoted to assisting "on duty personnel" who are displaced from their proper timeline. Your credentials and mission parameters are sent back with you in the form of easily accessible data sticks. Mostly everyone knows your face at the agency, and for more far flung missions you do carry a badge and credentials to identify yourself.

Missions take place all around the world of course, so there's a lot of mundane travel in conjuction with time travel. Oddly enough, due to a few uncontrollable variables in the time travel process, you might find yourself missing a flight even though you traveled back in time to catch it.

The cost of sending a team back is exorbitant, and so repeats of the same mission are severely frowned upon. Private customers are charged very large fees, but that only covers one trip back. Any subsequent trips are funded by the company, and tend to lead to very harsh reviews and people being fired. When the government funds a trip they tend to use their own personnel if it's of high importance, but E, G & G agents have been used in less critical government funded missions.

Your team is Team 3, currently there are 5 full time teams consisting of between 5 and 10 members each. Generally speaking they are listed in decending order of responsibility and prestige. Team 1 are the top dogs, they take the hardest missions and get the biggest paychecks. Team 5 are generally used as support personnel, should circumstances change in the present, they are sent as messengers to the team in the field.

You are in the middle, sort of like the workhorse of the company. You take a high volume of missions, some of them quite high risk but nothing too severe. I'll be populating the world with the other team's members, some of them might respect you, some of them might be envious of your positions and some of them might look down on you or treat you as subordinates. The rank system is pretty freeform, but there are team leaders and specialists. All team members are nominally classified as "Agents" although agents from team 1 might see themselves as superior in rank to lesser team's agents.

As long as the job gets done the management doesn't seem to mind a little infighting, so long as no one gets hurt.

In the interest of progress, I'm just going to assume the Sith fixes his character and start this thing off. Posting the Thread in the RP section now.
