I had no problem with the way he spoke, I just thought that your posts were more elegant when Adin was more human. (You define his character, after all, and with three posts in, there's a lot of room for modification) But very well. Let us forget my suggestion.

Look up the St. Valentine's day massacre and how many people ended up in jail over it.
While I admit that I'm not all too well-informed about 1920s mob affairs, I believe that the plot-central murder of a (possibly) poor and innocent girl is enough to bring police down upon us (according to OP, anyway). If the murder of one girl is enough to alert the LAW, then I would assume that torture, murder and arson are enough to screw us over to no small degree. Additionally, I'm sure that if we killed one competitor the rest of the underground bigshots would have something to say about it, out of pure self-preservation. If they allow Art to retain enough power to simply kill competitors, what's to say they won't be next?
And then there's the customers, who'll certainly be spooked if it seems like a gang war's in the air.
So it's as much about efficiency as it is about self-preservation.
Regardless, let's see what happens in the RP.

Probably! But Awakening came out, and I SHOULD be getting FFXIII about the time I finish playing through that, so it's not a huge deal if I end up bumped off.

I would be sad, though.
And god no, I'm not advocating anyone leaving. They're all interesting characters, Eels most so.
