As for the power absorb, I wonder if that's the same as the data absorb bit from season 3. Where if a digimon absorbs the remnants of it's prey it grows stronger. Though this season could be them trying to "reinvent" digimon like they did with 5 (which was one of the best IMO). They may still be competing with pokemon.
