It shouldn't be too hard to implement either...just rig up pedometer, have it send an electric signal through USB or whatever to the computer, custom driver interprets ever signal as a 1, every 1 as a step forward!

I suppose it is possible to do with a Wiimote, a bluetooth adapter, and GlovePie and just mimic how they use it for the Wii Fit run and jog games.
