Tech Support Problem with my Java installation

Today my computer tried to update java. After a while, it said the update failed. Now I can't play minecraft. I tried to reinstall java, but the reinstallation failed. I tried to check my current installation of java via the control panel, but the java window won't open. I can't uninstall it, I can't reinsatall it, and I can get it to do fuck all right now. Anybody know how to fix this?

Every time I try to use the Java website's tool for verifying my current version of Java, my browser just closes. So, yeah, theres that too.

EDIT: So I've checked my manage/remove software in the control panel, and I somehow had two simultaneous installations of java on my computer, both different versions. They both uninstalled, and now Im attempting to reinstall at the newest version. Hopefully this fixes it.

Yep, looks like its fixed. [/thread]
