The rumors broke last week that a six-minute prologue from director Christopher Nolan’s newest Batman film The Dark Knight Rises will be attached to the release of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Well, it’s confirmed and official, folks!

On Monday, AMC Theaters confirmed the Batman prologue sequence will indeed air in front of the new Mission Impossible, beginning December 16th.

Great news! But wait, there’s more — the prologue won’t be quite as widespread as you might think…

It seems that only the big, 70mm IMAX theaters are going to air the prologue from The Dark Knight Rises. Other theaters that feature digital IMAX and have smaller screens will not have the prologue.

So if you thought the IMAX theater near you was a sure bet, you better confirm that it’s a “true” IMAX theater with the giant screens (not the digital IMAX screens that tend to run about 30 or so feet in height). This should tell you how big the sequence is going to be, since it was shot entirely in IMAX and Mr. Nolan and Warner Bros. wants to ensure it’s seen on the proper scale.
