Like Magus said... The angle of this movie is that Jor El knew that Kal El would be superior to the whole of the Human race and that they would look up to him and worship him to some degree... which its actually quite a bit of truth from the Superman Mythos. He is "the" superhero after all...
Thing is, Superman learned Humility from his earthly upbringing. In the end, he decided to help people because he knew it that it was the right thing to do with the gifts that he had and never searched adoration or expected it from them. The Superman from DCAU is a very good example actually. Most of my DC knowledge comes from there... a LOT of it is due to Justice league cartoon and Batman Cartoon... he suffers from "Harvey dent-itis". He is a symbol and he can't be seen being bad or vengeful or evil caue people look up to him and want to be better because of him. I mean, look at one of the very best momments of expresion from Kal El ever made... |
