Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is definitely not secretly bad.
I don't know much about Akumetsu, Freesia, Kongou Bancho, or Teppuu, but judging by the covers and summary blurbs you linked to, it looks like they take themselves too seriously for my taste in "fight this guy then go over there and fight that other guy" manga. Phil pointed out your post about Orange from earlier, so I'm going to give that a shot. If I end up not liking it, at least it's short.
