Okay seriously, the line "So how, in the nine hideously burning depths of hell" is a major fallacy. I mean if red mage said it, that'd be one thing, but black mage knows better. Only numbers 6-8 even have any sort of fire, and 9 could'nt possibly be further removed from it since it's a giant ice prison.
Maybe Black Mage set them all on fire while he was down there, in which its very in character?
