Something occurred to me though, the Torchwood presented here and the Torchwood in Doctor Who are so different. I realize they're supposed to be different branches but the Torchwood from Doctor Who was like the Men In Black, the Torchwood in this series is more like The Lone Gunmen. It just seems odd that one branch has a state of the art facility and a huge staff while another branch has a facility that looks like it was built out of a sewer and a staff of five.
That made me think, maybe this Torchwood isn't really the real thing. If Jack is that desperate to find the Doctor, he may go as far as creating an unsanctioned organization and use the Torchwood name to avoid people asking questions. Look how quickly they gain access to a crime scene just by saying they're with Torchwood. It just seems weird that a guy with no history and no confirmed identity is given command of the Cardiff Torchwood. I'm probably reading too much into it and I'll be proven wrong as soon as they show other Torchwood personnel or Jack speaks with his superiors. I guess I've always been the one to look for the conspiracy. And Jack doesn't seem to answer to ANYONE yet the Torchwood WE knew was under goverment control heavily and yet we can see no sign of goverment influence here... |
