Let's Play: Half Life 2!
I pm'd Solid Snake and he said his is obviously long dead, and Fifth told me to ask him, so I'm starting this up.
Waking up wearily in a dirty subway train, my head swimming, I wonder what I did last night. I stand up dizzily and stumble to the platform, looking outside. My head begins to clear up now that I'm out in the relatively fresh air of the dirty subway station, a clear improvement on the train. I'm really moving up in the world. My mood is beginning to improve as well. I walk down the sidewalk, looking around. This place does NOT seem familiar. I look down. ... SCORE! I scoop up the nine millimeter and kept walking, my luck seeming to have improved. I feel pretty badass, having a weapon. Some punkass bitch tries to get all up in my grill, I'll pop a CAP in his a-Ohshitcop. I give him a wide berth. I don't like the look of that stunrod. Oh god. I fucking hate these things. I push through the spinning gate and come out the other side, looking to my right at a small sound. Hey, at least there's some babes here. I turn away from the only woman I'd seen here in my short stay, already beginning to idolize her, and keep walking, wondering where the hell I was going. I see some more people, getting to some kind of annex or something. There are benches and what appears to be an information kiosk, but its closed. There is a man pacing back and forth, apparently switching between thinking and staring intently at the wall. I give the crazy man a wide berth and continue on my path. I stop in horror. First the turning gate, now this...This place is like an amusement park from HELL! I grimly walk through, grimacing further at the site that greets me on the other side. Great, more COPS. Freakin' buzzkills, man. They direct me through the gate to the left. I'm disinclined to listen to the FUZZ, but they have weapons, so I do what they say...They're lucky they have me outnumbered, or I'd be be popping all manners of caps up in this 'hizzle. As I think absentmindedly about caps I would like to pop, or possibly even BUST, the camera looks at me, the light on it turning an angry red. The gates slam shut. Oh god. What's going on? I didn't do anything! Innocent until proven guilty! INNOCENT UNTIL PR- As I begin to hyperventilate, a door opens to my right, and a guard beckons to me. ...Oh god, this is it. I'm gonna die. I'M GONNA DIE. The guard bangs on a door three times. A slot opens, followed by the door itself. Another guard speaks to my captor, asking if he needs help. My soon to be executioner responds that he, in fact, has got this.He motions for me to go inside. I step inside, looking down with horror at the floor. I emit a soft whimper as he drags me over to a computer display, stating he will need privacy for this, and types something in. The cameras shut off. I start to cry inwardly, shrinking back. He starts to take off his helmet. Well that's...altogether less threatening. He turns around and starts typing on the computer, some old man in a lab coat coming up on screen, asking what "Barney" wants, and stating his preoccupation. My faceless killer is much less faceless and threatening with a name and no mask. In fact, his warm tone and chubby cheeks are almost comforting..."Barney" directs me to stand closer to the display. I began to feel close to my captor, although the notion of some psychological syndrome or other I had heard of once was tugging at the back of my mind. The old man talks at me for some time, referring to me as "Gordon". I don't catch a lot of what he says, too busy wondering who Gordon was. My name's Barry... Barney explained that this was doctor...kleener or klinex or something like that. The display shuts off and Doctor Kleenex goes bye-bye. Good riddance. A banging comes on the door, and some shouting from beyond it. Barney swears, directing me to another door and saying to get out before I ruined his cover. FINE. Jerk... He yells something I don't catch as I walk through the door, very hurt. Probably just insulting me some more...*sniff* I scramble up a ladder and come to a high window. I jump up to look through it. ...I don't see anything. I look around. Crates...Nothing but crates. What the hell am I supposed to do now? These are fun. Comments and critique please. Edit: For the record if I don't get a fair number of responses (say, three) I'll judge it to mean there isn't much interest, and therefore will not continue. Any suggestions on how to improve or what to do with the story/modifications to download and apply, etc are welcome. Anything, really. Last edited by TDK; 10-07-2008 at 09:59 PM. |
