Default Does anyone like the .hack// games?

I've played and own the entire series. The gameplay was pretty straight forward, but i liked the storyline and the music was beautiful. I also read the first book of .hack//legend of the twilight and watched a little bit of .hack//sign

This would actually be better off in the video games section.

But yeah, I did like those games. I have played all 4 of them and I was very impressed with how it was done. And the concept of how "The World" was originally for surprised me actually. I didn't think that they would go so in depth with the whole thing.

.hack// games are an RPG, there are four games. Each is part 1 2 3 4. So if you want to play it, start with Part 1 or else be very hard to start. Pretty fun. Though not worth buy all 4, more like a rent, though you probably won't beat it within the renting time.

I believe you mean Grunties, and yeah I like riding those too. The thing that always nagged me was I couldnt' figure out how to get any of the other types! I would feed the damn thing whatever it wanted and I would always end up with Noble! I couldn't participate in any of the races because of that...

Default Dot-Hack-Attack!

Personally, I love these games. The anime (SIGN and Legend of Twilight/DUSK) didn't really keep my interest much. I saw all the episodes pretty much for "Ahem" background information, but I think they could have been done better.

So basically, I know almost everything about .hack that can be learned. The general appeal that I found in the games, aside from the story, was two very important things. First, it was ironic. You're playing an RPG about playing an RPG. For me, the irony was even greater because I'm an experienced Roleplayer playing this RPG about playing in an RPG. The second thing about it is that it's just addictive. Game magazine reviewers confess to a certain addiction to this game as well.

Now me, my interest in the series was great enough to go ahead and buy all the games and play them through, including all the extra stuff. I won't bore ya with how much time I've devoted, but I will say it was alot. What I've been trying to do ever since I finished the game was create a story situated about two months after the end of the game. The name? ".hack//CODE". I won't say anything more about it because it may be a while before I complete it. I will say that sending it to Bandai has crossed my mind.

Oh, and Grunties? There's plenty of guides online for that. Gamefaqs and such are full of helpful guides to things. Don't feel bad about not being able to get all your Grunties. I have them all and I can't race 'em to save my life.

Astral Harmony will become famous soon enough. Eventually. Maybe.

Game Genre: Real-Time RPG

You kind of force the diet on the Gruntie to change it into other types of adults. Feeding it what it wants won't make it change to something besides a Noble very often. If I had the guides, I could get you the stats required to get those Grunties as well as what each food does for them.

As for the games themselves, you should only bother with them if you've got your fair share of perseverance. The story is good and the voiceovers are well done but the music doesn't really inspire me and combat is especially tedious, but combat is always tedious in RPGs, particularly if you like to power level your characters like I do.

One great thing is how well it mimics being a MMORPG. My friend asked me about three times "Are you sure this isn't an online game?" before I convinced him that it wasn't, and he's been an EverQuester for at least a few years. I think he realized it when the characters started repeating some of their chats. The major drawback is that the combat is so uninspirational that you might, at some point in the game series, find that you no longer care about the plight of the main character and would rather just get things over with. So, yes, while I do say these games is good, even great, you need to really push yourself to keep from abandoning the series before you complete it.
