I think it would be better to wait another month or two for the current Avvy RPs to finish. For instance, mine isn't even at the final boss yet.

Could always just use this thread.
I'm thinking there will be a huge amount of cross pollination and changing of ideas as people become aware of what others were planning, so it'll probably take a while to finalise what everyone's doing. Might as well get a start on it now.

I'm bumping this thread because it seems that all of the avvies are wrapped up now.
Now, question. Who all still wants to run one? I'm still willing to run NPF Babies, and I'd be really interested in NPF Island if somebody was going to be starting that back up.

Actually, we all kinda get together in chat and thought it might be best to leave things be for a while. Let the series have a rest for a bit so we can all come back into it refreshed and restored.
Also, in a couple months or so I may come back around with an "Avvy V-2" of sorts in order to wrap up this last one with a new, more energized crew. Something like having Mauve wake up alone on a deserted island after a year, with only a sick Ecurt to watch over her, and she must travel the world and get the whole NPF gang back together to overthrow the tyrannical godly overlord Nihilem, who rules the forums from high atop his tower. That hasn't been done before, right?

Yeah. I'm making an announcement regarding no new Avatar RPs for at least six months.
So like, July 1st or later. I'll keep y'alls updated.

While I do agree that a hiatus would be a good idea, six months seems somewhat... excessive to me.

That's half of an Avvy RP at this point.
.5 not even a whole one. Get my point? These things are going too damn long. Also point three in that sticky I made.

The length problem is mainly my fault. Avvy IV had a crapload of pacing difficulties partially due to me just underestimating how long everything would take. Avvy V is about the same length but has run for approximately half the time. Avvy II didn't even take 2 months to complete!
On the other hand, V filled up six threads in the first week of its existence (i.e. the arena stage), so maybe people just really like PvP. In hindsight, I think it might have been the strict structure of IV that hurt its activity. It was intended to be something of a parody of your typical console RPG (thus, multiple dungeons, Ominious Rings of Land, the players unwittingly doing the work of the bad guys...). Unfortunately, it meant there wasn't quite enough freedom for the players. I realised the problem with slowness around the end of the first temple, and started taking steps to acclerate things. I even asked people if they would like to cut down on the number of dungeons several times, but they still wanted to go through all four. Possibly a few too many hard fights too. Had problems with the boss battles taking forever since no-one really seemed to be attacking and everyone was just running around panicking. I'm sure POS can sympathise. Anyway, I've gone on about the problems of IV enough. What we need for the Avvy in the future is to keep it simple. Locations really should be pruned down to a minimum, as scene changes can be very awkward to arrange. Most people have recognised we can't keep doing apocalyptic events. Rhiya and I were considering proposing the idea of mini-Avvys. They'd be purposefully constructed to be very short (maybe three-four fights) and generally be less world shaking. Picnics in Hell or the Quest for Shiney's Other Sock! They would help serve as a breather between slightly longer and more involved Avvies. I think I've rambled enough. Just wanted to say that people have recognised the problems we've noticed in Avvies and are working to fix them.

I, for one, am all for the introduction of more fluff avvies. May I again say that I think we should bring back NPF Island, an RP where our avatars just hang out on a beach and make lewd comments to one another?
