He ain't gonna be scared by no terrorist.
"All right then," Sean said with a smile, slamming a fist into his open palm, "lets get this start-"
"Stop right there you cheaters!" No break for the Canadian. Some random girl had appeared and was apparently going to murder Sao, the girl on the swim-team. "Ya'know," Sean said with a forlorn face, "this is what I was out to preclude." "Take one more step toward the Referee, and I'll cut this girl's throat!" Sean stopped to think for a moment. He looked at Adeline and the other guy. Adeline looked prepared for battle, and Astarte's boyfriend was also a big guy. He also looked at Astarte. Initial presumption would assume she was a burn victim, but maybe there was more to her? She was at Amaranth, so maybe there was more to her than meets the eye. How fast could they react? The hostage herself may also even be able to fight back. Sean wasn't the gambling type, but he sorta wanted to speed things up. There was only so much time before ANOTHER person gets stabbed. ---MEANWHILE--- "Better scream." ---- "Okay, we'll compromise," Sean said, eyes closed and his index finger in the air. "I will not take one step towards the referee. I will take several steps towards the referee. K thanks bye!" Putting his faith in several strangers, Sean turned tail and ran. Taking sight of the female referee pointed out by Gorgeous, he picked up the speed and flash stepped at her full speed. Recalling some instances of football games in High School, the Canadian's intent was to knock her off her feet and establish a challenge. If she was busy fighting off a tall Japanese-Canadian kid, then she could definitely not oversee a fight. A dislocated shoulder may also make it a difficult task. Sean definitely wasn't taking out some sort of vendetta against referees. Last edited by Bard The 5th LW; 03-13-2011 at 02:22 AM. |

Jay dashed toward Hannah with a wicked grin on his face as his blackened eyes stared back to see the coming mass of muscles that was Zet. Hannah tried to send him a warning, but by the time he reacted it was much too late. His foot planted hard, still sliding off his sprint, his whole form tilting slightly toward Hannah, his hands flipping their positions on the bat. His other foot hit the ground hard, and his aura flashed chartreuse, brighter than it had ever shown before, and you didn't even see it happen. But you heard it.

Marisa straightened from her position at the keyboard and filled in part of the mystery in a patchy and distracted way. Jo watched her attentively, looking up at her face and nodding when it seemed appropriate.
Then The Machine had a problem, the inscrutable text swarming on its screen suddenly blaring with warnings. Jo jumped involuntarily, not from the warnings but from losing her connection to her duplicates. It was as if someone had simply flicked off a switch. Jo massaged the back of her headsourly. A particularly unpleasant switch. Now a strange greyish aura was forming over the keyboard, wrapping around Marisa as well. Jo heard shouting. Things seemed to be getting a bit too serious. For now, it was time to shelve inexplicable problems and deal with the explicable ones. "Please excuse me a moment." Jo said to Marisa. "There's something I need to take care of." Jo stalked off into the hazy black aura only she (and apparently Marisa) could see that was hiding most of the battlefield from her. A yellow aura briefly flickered around her. Vanilla had Sao at nail point, threatening to slit her throat if anyone took a single step towards the referee. Sean decided enough was enough and took several. Perfectly expressionless, Jo came up behind Vanilla like an iceberg looming out of fog, her finger pressed against her lips to signal for silence. She raised her other hand - a monstrous claw of foot long icicles curled into a fist - and smashed it down on the back of Vanilla's head. Her face as innocent as the morning snow, the pale girl tucked the oversized icy talon behind her back as if nothing had happened. "Is everything alright here?" she enquired.

Shin's muscles twitched erratically. Between being pushed to this extent and constricted, she wasn't going to hold out much longer. Hanna had blurted out what seemed to be a half-assed insult, and was being pushed to her limit as well. Perfect. All Shinobu needed to do was get a single hit in, and she would call it a win against the girl. She already took care of her assigned target.
Hannah interrupted herself, catching her breath and turning to face the Jay and his pursuer. That's all she needed. The oni inhaled deeply. Energy surged through the human form, and the vines ripping as she strained to pull herself up. Attempts to remain quiet were futile, and a bit of a groan escaped, body informing her that she was pushing it too far. Hannah still seemed distracted with her other bodyguard's danger, and this was the only window. Dashing forward, her club swung for Hannah's midsection from the left side. Accompanying her swing was an exhale - not quite a roar or a hiss, but clearly a pained and angry sound. It was an unlikely strike with how quick her opponent was, but Shin wasn't about to eat an insult lying down.

Dal was waiting, rather patiently, for Kohana to answer his question, which he hoped would distract Vanille, when everything went horribly, horribly wrong. All of a sudden what had been a friendly romp through the land of non-fatal dueling turned into risks of murder and mayhem all over the field.
Gray sparks of magic littered the field and black auras flared, and everyone seemed to be... angry. Running on pure Id. And Dal could only blame the machine. Of course, his first instinct was to save Sao, a rare expression of horror coming over his face as Vanille wrapped around her and Sean decided to move anyway. His hand went to his rapier, but then Jo took care of that problem. However, still he drew the weapon and brought it up and over his head, before flinging it forward with one fluid motion, directly toward the monitor of the machine Jo had just left, at an angle where it hopefully wouldn't hit the young lady working on it. He charged after the blade on foot after. He didn't know how to stop it the 'right' way, so he elected to simply break it and hope for the best. If that didn't work, well, at least he and Sao, and maybe Jo still seemed sane. He just hoped they could stop everyone else with just the three of them.

Di's mouth set itself in a thin line. This strange girl was looking at her camera. Why was she looking at that? It was so unprofessional! And for some reason, disturbing the director on levels she didn't know she had.
Her hand tightened around the device, tugging the strap around her wrist slightly to reassure her it was tight. Something was really bugging her about this woman, and when someone playing with very sharp looking knives is giving you the creeps, a smart person will decide to be somewhere else. Diana, as you dear readers out there may have noted, had a different set of priorities. She hesitated, trying to work out what to ask the girl about first, while a few very ignored survival instincts went on strike and got in the way of more productive thought processes. She had almost decided when Hei's patience ran out. The motes of light turned black. The girl had dog ears. A second knife appeared. Diana's camera was threatened. Survival instincts shut up and sat down as a far more powerful force woke, flooding through her mind and sweeping away anything that tried to resist like a broken dam. Nothing would harm this camera. Nothing! Di's aura flickered as her legs shifted underneath her, taking a slightly wider stance and bending at the knees. As the knife wielding girl's charge closed the distance between them, Di's eyes flickered between her face, her knives, the tree branch they were standing on, and the ground far below. You could almost see the calculation scrolling across her eyes. [Crazy Knife girl] + [Tree Branch] + [lethal height] + [Threat to Camera] = ... The knives had almost reached her before the Director moved, but almost only matters when the important thing is taking part. Diana jumped, and in a display of grace that would have shocked anyone who knew the girl, flipped herself easily in the air, spinning over Hie's head and lightly landing between her and her discarded pretzel prizes, facing the way she'd come. She wasn't even sweating. = [Crazy Ninja skills!] Diana was still Diana, though. "Hi there viewers! Looks like I've found a genuine mysterious person up here! Isn't it cool? And she's consented to an interview! Lucky! So, Ms. Mysterious girl, I have a lot of questions! First off, are those ears real?"

Voices carried oddly on the battlefield, punctuated and muffled by the exclamations and grunts of both sets of duelists. But what she could hear shook off the Undine's inertia - here, finally, was a clear path for her to take. Stepping forward to interviene for her teacher, she was surprised when the buxom woman stepped forward as well. "Stop right there you cheaters!"
Well, some back-up would be nice, true. I wonder how effe- "Take one more step toward the Referee, and I'll cut this girl's throat!" Bands of flesh wrapped securely around her arms and legs, though the shock of being grabbed at all would have sufficed. A prick at her neck backed up the woman's claim. And that, for Sao, was the last straw. Blue light blazed in a short corona around her, corroding anything it touched. The sound of flesh sizziling started to fill the air as Vanilla learned why it was not wise to try to hold Sao against her will. "Okay, we'll compromise," Sean's voice floated over the din. "I will not take one step towards the referee. I will take several steps towards the referee. Kay thanks bye!" "No!" Breaking free of the suddenly-loose grip, the swimmer charged towards Sean and Selena. If she could just get closer... She could barely hear the measured tones of Johanna over the sudden, anguished cries of Vanilla, but there was Simply. No. Time. Blood trickled down her neck as she ran, staining her bandana with patches of dark red. Panting with the effort of running and casting, the slim girl raced to protect her teacher - and her classmates' integrity. Whether they liked it or not. Blue light, bright and reminiscent of a crashing wave, gathered in her palm. Less than a second later, it burst out in a short shockwave, leaping outward to hopefully catch the Canadian mid-stride and send him flying to the side.

Kohana smiles brightly, reaching up to rub the back of his head in as sheepish a manner as he can.
"Well you see, my cousin may have snuck onto the field, and... she has a habit of making this disappe-" The wolf-boy blinked as several things happened at once; but since he was distracted by the low growl of his patron spirit, and a hazy vision of his cousin and the girl with the camera, he saw none of those things. He looked towards the tree Diana and Hie were occupying, lips curled back as a feral snarl broke past his lips. "What the fuck are you doing, Hie?" Paying no mind to the various situations around him that were fucking up, he turned and made for the tree. His aura flared bright, and the world slowed as his flash step brought him right to the tree in no time flat. He skidded to a halt, bandana blown off in the process, and shot a worried glance up into the tree. Just in time to see Diana flip over Hie's head and land behind her. Likewise, he noticed the black lights swirling around his cousin. "Hie! Get down from there, and leave that girl alone! What the hell are you doing?!" His ears flicked, pointing forward as he barked at his cousin. "I'm serious, get out of that tree or I'm kickin' your ass!" Last edited by SinrXIII; 03-14-2011 at 01:14 AM. |

"Gorgeous! Adeline! Please help them stop the referee!" Astarte directed before proceeding to Vanilla's side.
"Sure, but what are you doing?" Gorgeous asked her. "I can't leave Vanilla like this. She's my friend. And I don't think it requires all of us to take on the referee, does it?" "Well, if that's the case, why don't you just let me take care of her?" "Huh?" Gorgeous kneeled down on the other side of Vanilla. "She's in my class, after all. Go ahead with Adeline and end this battle. I'll make sure Vanilla's taken care of." "All right. Please take very good care of her." Gorgeous easily lifted the uncontious Vanilla from the ground and, craddling her to make sure noone sees what Sao's acid had done to her skin, escorted her away from the action. Astarte gave one nod to Adeline and the two went off to harass the Referee. Last edited by Astral Harmony; 03-14-2011 at 01:59 PM. |

With a heavy sigh, Jack rose to his feet. Rather than follow Sean, though, he decided to capitalize on the distraction he was about to create.
Attempting to look harmless and innocent, he edged closer to the center of the field, past Dean and Filia. Jay's duel seemed to be going well at least, he thought, as he saw that Al was down and Zet seemed to be on his way to joining him. So he kept an eye on Shuyin and Landry, and watched as events unfolded on the other side of the Field. Sean and Adeline talked to Astarte and her friend, and one of Shuyin's students, a scantily-clad girl, took Sao hostage, apparently to stop Sean from executing his plan. The canadian made his move anyway, though, running for the referee, as Sao and Jo took out the offending student. That was what Jack had been waiting for. "Hey Ref!" He called. "To your right!" Hoping the ref would be sufficiently distracted by the hockey player rushing her, Jackson quickly assumed his stance as his aura flared. He knew it would take everything out of him, but to hell with that. His foot rose and multiplied as he kicked the air in front of him, in swift motions that made his kicks blur. His foot tore the air, sending a rippling wave of meteors aimed at Shuyin and that would hopefully not hit Landry. See how he liked being assailed by a cloud of super fast projectiles.
