Quotes like "Every nerd has a favorite TV show they watch religiously and know inside and out. But My Little Pony seems like an unlikely object of fanboy love," rub some people the wrong way, I guess. I don't see the problem with the whole article, but there are some who don't like it.
A lot of people seem to be attacking Luke Allen, and refering to bronies in general as pedophilic as well as other less-than-savory things. Ah well, stupids gonna stupid. |

I just don't like how the article referred to MLP:FiM fandom as a "meme," mostly because it reinforces the idea that the internet has that "meme" means "in-joke" (I hate that, like I hate people calling jokes "trolling"). Words mean things, internet writer person and internet at large.

EDIT: If there's something wrong with the author's usage of "meme", as strictly defined, it's that the author uses it in a way which restricts the meaning of the term only to internet image macros, while excluding larger concepts such as fandoms.

Well, it WAS known as an internet meme for a while, but was recently re-classified as a subculture now.

Subcultures are also memes.
Or rather, the ideas on which those subcultures are based are memes.
