Ok seriously did you not read my entire post? How was I implying that we should rely on the mafia to solve our problems for us?
Edit: If 42 is correct and the mafia decides not to kill him then again we have one player alive who is a confirmed most likely town-aligned player which makes narrowing down our list of suspects even further.

Well, as this is going downhill, I can't do anything but roleclaim.
I am Detective Duffy, and I am the police officer. As would be expected, my role is a night role, so I don't have information on any roles yet, but once we get to tommorrow, I will be able to tell the role of one person, and then my validity as the P.O. will be confirmed. I can only assume that Ecurt's information is incorrect due to some facet of his role, which may be broken, possibly reflecting his character's mental state and abilities in the movie. I ask whoever the bodyguard is to protect me tonight, because roleclaiming police officer is nothing more than suicide. Sure, you can go ahead and lynch me now, or you can go ahead and lynch me tommorrow if the information I get tonight doesn't satisfy you for some reason. The potential gain far outweighs the potential loss in this situation, and the mafia's knowledge of my role as cop means that the minute I find scum, I can safely out them without fear of giving away my role. I hate to roleclaim this early, but due to what is a boneheaded claim regardless of its validity or not, by Ecurt is forcing me to do so.

Not buying it. I'm skeptical of the PO role being linked to Detective Duffy, considering the multiple police characters in the movie. The roleclaim strikes me as quite phony.

And I still fail to see how 42 is anywhere near confirmed when it's basically his word only. |

Wow, this got serious fast.
I don't believe sc one bit. It's not very often that extra's are broken extras. Further, you say you'll find scum as though it's a guarentee. If I recal correctly, having seen the movie so long ago (last night), Duffy was just slightly less stupid than Greenly, but it's perfectly possible he could be broken as well. Despite the fact that he still hasn't watched the movie, I'm going to have to: UNVOTE: B_Real and VOTE: SC |

I said that I would claim a scum immediately if I found him, because I have already roleclaimed. My point is this. EVERY roleclaim this early in the game is going to seem phony or defensive, because there is very little information to counteract that. This is true for roleclaims later in the game as well, although to a lesser extent. Essentially what a roleclaim comes down to is the potential gain vs the potential loss, as well as the estimated damage that could come from letting that person live on more night. Hypothetically speaking, IF I am the Don, as many have asserted, then the mafia would receive a nightkill regardless of whether I am lynched or not. If am not mafia, and the P.O., then the upside from my continued life is huge compared to the nearly nonexistant risk this early in the game. Which is worse? Killing your P.O. because of a botched role/roleclaim, or lynching scum a turn later than was actually possible. Another scenario is that the Don is lynched randomly tonight, and I don't have to reveal a potentially beneficial role to the town because of allayed suspicion.
