I like it but the second half of page five is a completely disjointed mess. I think he's regaining control for a second and uses it to walk backwards into a car? Initially I thought he was just suddenly crossing a street for no good reason. And then he's taken over again when he's hit only to re-regain control immediately after?
I love Penny Arcade but I don't think they should expand into longer narratives anytime soon. |

Yeah on consideration I'm kind of glad that PA made this bold, experimental foray into dramatic long-form storytelling so we could see that they aren't really good at it and be that much more grateful when they go back to three panel videogame jokes and like the occasional four comic series about the Merch trying to kill Santa.
Hahaha no of course they're actually going to decide that this new direction is awesome and to keep doing it. It will be just like that one time John Allison said hey I think I'll take my comic and strip out everything that makes it funny or whimsical or charming and instead just make it snide and hella-ass obnoxious and then change my name to Jeph Jacques.

I dunno, I like it.
Of course I also like anytime they go into The Wandering Age as well, and I'm not quite sure why.

So, not only did VG Cats apparently update a couple times, but the latest comic is like a well drawn Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff.

Hm, yeah, as a PA comic 'Automata' was, well, yeah, pretty much not what I wanted at all.
It was however a far better concept than films like I, Robot, A.I., or whatever other 'ghost in the machine' themed robot movie that has been out in recent years. A roarin' 20s setting with robot dectectives? Sure, why not?

Some days Nerf Now is just hilarious.
And some days you just want to punch Pereira in the fucking face.

Sometimes it's something different altogether.
It kind of makes me wish there were TF2 RP servers, so I could play as that guy. I'm honestly amazed he did two comics in a row where the punchline isn't "GOOGLY EYES LOL"

He certainly is great at times but if he would just alter the way he draws women so they don't all look like they're 14 with creepy-as-fuck pantyshots I could actually keep him bookmarked without this awful roiling in my gut.
It wouldn't bother me so much if all the guys weren't big surly tall manly men to contrast, leading to a whole lot more gut-wrenching whenever the Engineer girl (lol pun) has any sort of affair with any guys.
