Fridge logic realization ahoy!It's vacillation.

Rose is trying to create a vacillation scenario. That's why she stole Karkat's troll romance novel and what that whole scene about wanting to be all up in all of Kanaya's quadrants was about. She's trying to manipulate a situation wherein Kanaya is driven into blackrom feelings for her due to reasons we aren't privy to just yet, but ultimately stemming from her seer powers showing her the single correct path to victory. Kanaya needs to be her kismesis right now for whatever reason, which is why she's been doing the drunk schtick this whole time.

That's why she essentially had Roxy's personality transplanted onto her while she was drunk, wereas sobering up didn't result in any monumental shift in Roxy's own personality (and certainly didn't turn her into Rose). It was to create a situation wherein she would start in a redrom relationship with Kanaya that would eventually turn black, and then possibly red again in the future when the circumstances required it. It's not unlike the kismesis game Gamzee's been playing on Terezi but with opposing goals, since Gamzee has been working to nullify Terezi's foresight while Rose's own powers of foresight have been guiding her to manipulate Kanaya to the necessary ends to ensure victory. Rose is, despite all appearances, still more or less in control of this whole affair.

Of course, it's not a thing that the readers would necessarily see coming since we're humans that are naturally inclined to think of relationships as a love/not!love on-off binary, and I only just put the pieces together now. I'm really rather impressed with Hussie if this is the case. It's a clever use of all this bullshit troll romance exposition that no one has ever once actually given a shit about.
