Yeah, but see, the prevolution would still go down after a few good attacks, and could do shit all offensively. Neither of those limitations apply to Mollesk. That's not an oddity. That's something that none of us should have let slide.
Edit: And I second bard's protest. |

I don't think Pierce can get any more evolutions.
Well, he could evolve Skarmory or Starmie, I guess, but they're not permanent members of his team. All the permanent members of his team are Legendaries or already on their third evolutions. ... Can I evolve Dialga? Quote:
Yes, of course he is. But who the hell do you think is going to use those? One enemy every five encounters, maybe? And bosses, of course, but no amount of HP leeching is going to save you from bosses anyway. No, just because Mollesk can be defeated by waiting for poison or Curse to finally do the bastard in after fifty turns doesn't make it balanced. At all.

If you notice, many of the mooks like the soliders are coming equipped with status effects like flinch. That and the bosses tend to inflict status with their basic attacks. And you're thinking small with poison. Burn cuts his attack in half. (And there is nothing to stop a foe from stacking afflictions.)
Mollesk is also weak to status debuff to the point that he loses double of what others would normally lose due to his Simple ability doubling all changes to stats, good or bad. It is definately competitive against basic attacks in general, but there are several factors like Ruin pokemons (one of the RP's highlight) being super effective on it, increasing number of status affliction on foes of all levels of difficulty and the fact that AB can invent his own foes/moves that I feel justified in what I made, and the fact that its power is mostly defensive, meaning that it doesn't take steal the spotlight from other players except for... living against huge barrages, which is what it is supposed to mostly do. And his combat ability isn't very fancy. It doesn't have the ability to put multiple mooks to sleep and let them die without him having to touch them, and thus remain in safety. Aside from Toxic, it doesn't have any status condition it can inflict while protected by its shell. It's basic claim to fame is endurance and dealing simple appreciable damage. As for Gem's... protest. I bring a quote from thread 13 way back when we were bickering about the Kimono's role during my side-quest and I generously compromised. Quote:
EDIT: And Drac, I think AB was intending to allow you to be allowed to evolve your pokemons that are already on their 3rd form, as you requested some time ago. Anyhow, I'm off to bed. I guess we'll see a new thread from AB soon since we hit the big number. Last edited by Menarker; 06-27-2010 at 01:53 AM. |

Armored Bishoujo: "From now on, if I'm going to say something meant for a specific one of you, I'm color-coding it. Geminex is Orange, Dracorian is Deep Sky Blue, Bard is Sandy Brown, Dante is Dark Orchid, and Menarker is Lime. Ready? Let's do this, LEEROYYYYYYYYYYYYY JEEEEENKIIIIIIINS!!"
Repropose Time Slip to have when you achieve Pokemon Breeder Level 1...or 6, if you want to count the Trainer levels. I'm not following you. You're telling me that you don't want to make your Pokemon to go Xth Stage for Drac and Bard's, so you're requesting a stat boost so that they're as strong as an Xth Stage without actually being Xth Stage? I won't allow Legendary evolutions. And by this, I mean if the Legendary is already a Legendary. Try it for the other Pokemon. I mean, it's not like you're going to end up with six Legendaries. Guh, I guess I won't be able to finish the post tonight. I realized how far behind the RP itself I am and I need to play some serious catchup. You all take a break or something. I plan to have a new dicussion thread up with new and more complete databases and the post finished as well. *goes to immediately watch Strawberry Panic!* ...What? I'm watching lesbian schoolgirls, d'ya mind!? EDIT: However, I will come around frequently to answer posts and PMs. Gotta clean out my box, anyways. I feel the need to protest again about Matt Paradigm Shifting again. Unless I'm really having issues reading AB's note says Matt has been in Paradigm Shift 2/3 turns. Meaning I still have another one. Why are you telling me to Paradigm Shift again?

Let me see if I can explain it slowly... You offered > - Trainers upgrade to Breeders. Custom moves will be allowed at the 1st, 3rd, and 5th levels. Custom evolutions (excluding Mollesk) become possible. The ability to teach "pool moves" to any Pokemon become available. There'll be more Co-Ops, and it's also possible a weakness could be erased and an Ability switch. I just need to crank my brain about it for good week or something. Pierce spent several posts asking if he would be allowed to evolve Tyranitar, Nagarai and Blaziken into a 4th evolution form (sorta like a Pokeweapon, but not quite according to him) as a sort of demostration of their maturity. I thought the idea was fairly absurd. Then you said the above with custom evolutions. (Did you exactly intend to allow 4th and higher evolution stages similar to Pokeweapons?) Evolutions usually tend to make a pokemon stronger (while changing their looks) and other things. (There are exceptions like how Shedninja total base stats is weaker than its prevolution. I don't want to evolve any of my pokemons because they look fine the way they are. However, I'm not one to pass up bonuses that are awarded to me especially if they come out of investing in levels of a class. But if Bard or Drac wants to evolve their pokemons further, they got my blessing. So I was wondering if at any point where I would have gained enough levels in Pokemon Breeder to be offered a custom evolution, if the pokemon I choose merely gains an overall strength/stamina boost without actually forcing a transformation. Or otherwise be allowed to switch that reward for something else entirely. Can I make a flavorable/situational suggestion? (Not to replace the above or anything) Make it so Pokemon Breeder pokemons of a certain level cannot be snagged ever (or at least not by any snagger/tuner that doesn't have equal ranks.) Thus a level 9 Snagger cannot snag any pokemons belonging to a level 10 Breeder for example. I know we haven't faced any snaggers yet, friend or foe, but there is no reason why there won't be any in the future. And having one's pokemon stolen and their loyalties forced to shift to fight against their former owner would be rather annoying/depressing. But a Pokemon Breeder of a certain level can probably ensure their pokemon's loyalty regardless of the snagger. Other stuff to consider (some I mentioned before) might include more leader pokemons/move slots, another set of custom accessories for (leader) pokemons, ability to change moves in mid-mission/battle, Testament Drives access for non-legendaries (Has a cost now this time around). Of course, I imagine there are other suggestions/ways for other classes too. But I'm tired/just woke up and that sort of thing... Overblade looks damn interesting from the looks of it though. ^^ AB, if someone (like Impact) wanted to invest in levels in demon now, can they opt for it as their reward after this and the next mission and thus get all their full rewards during the mission that it is unlocked? Probably the latter, but goddamnit there's just not enough levels. As it stands, I need to get Breeder level 3 just to get a second custom move for Enmakki and Time Slip for Dialga! That's pushing how high I want to go up the Breeder ladder. Anyway, Time Slip. With a new name that is more appropriate. Time Distortion (all combatants) Dialga screws up the flow of time. Enemy Paradigm Shifts last for 1 turn, and ally Paradigm Shifts are unaffected. If an enemy uses a move that lasts a set number of turns (buff move, Signature Technique, Synchronization Technique), the duration is halved. Allies no longer have cooldown or charge-up periods for moves. Enemy status effects that deal damage (poison, burn, sleep) take effect twice in one turn. Time Distortion lasts for three turns and can only be used once per battle. Quote:
Also, at what Pokemon Breeder levels do custom evolutions happen? One custom evolution per level? A custom evolution for levels 1, 3 and 5? Man, that's going to be a pain. Especially if I need to max the Breeder class just to evolve the three pokemon I want. Then I'd only have five levels to spend in Slayer and half-demon! That's not nearly enough to get anywhere near decent! Quote:
Oh yeah, will Ascended classes be available to NPCs as well?

What I'm trying to say Drac is the following...
1: AB is allowing us to move from class to class now, AKA dual-classing 2: However we're not able to actually receieve benefits in half-demon at the moment and for the next few missions. And since we were forced to invest in the first four classes and that we're still 2 missions (after this one) away from being able to enable it, by the time we're allowed to access it, we'd already be level 7, and thus none of us would be able to hit level 10 demon (Impact might be stuck at 8 demon and 7 slayer for example if we went Slayer for as long as he could before Demon finally became available and then jumped for it the moment it came out.) However AB said the following Quote:
His character would lag behind a bit compared to those who are investing in classes that are already available, but then when he does get his boost, his performance will rise to a startling level compared to what he was before. For that matter, it is CRUCIAL that you do it the way I suggested above if you want to max out Demon and do it as soon as your character possibly can. I hope I explained it better for you this time around. What this pretty much means, AB, is that you should have the list of upgrades for level 5 of the base classes classes and the first few levels of Demon ASAP so anyone like Impact can decide if he wants to put himself down that path before he or anyone else regrets it. And no, you can't be lazy and omit level 5 snagger (although I could understand why since none of us are level 4 snaggers) because some of us might choose to be snaggers for Rayleen's sidequest which will happen during this time phase.
