I tried searching the thread for resources but I got lost in a deep, dark jungle of SWAP tags and barely escaped with my sanity intact.
And in all seriousness, I did find that Javascript one via Google independently, and it is hard to describe how ugly it is. I'm trying the Lite version though. |

Have you tried PCGEN? It is what I used.

Here's the alt site I found, though again, I haven't used it before. EDIT: now I've used it and it's... okay, I suppose. While it does have some nice features, it implements them very clunkily and is more than slightly awkward. Looks like the ugly "lite" version is still the best I've used so far. Is PCGEN any better? I've not used that'n either. EDIT PART TWO: PCGEN sounds really good. It is a download, though, so there's that. Still, if Overcast don't got no bugs, I suppose it'll be okay.

I had never created a character in D&D before ever. But I was able to work one out in this program.
I was able to integrate typical source material along with the full psionics material(except complete psionic) that the java bit didn't have like prestige classes and powers. I was able to calculate gear costs including one custom item. I was given multiple different views of my character sheet. Yeah, it is pretty good. http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/01_overview.php

I didn't have time to build a character with it yet but the brief look I got was much more aesthetically appealing.

Five is right out!
Hey, so Sifright, TDK, Overmind, and I just played our first micro-adventure today. It's not official, and might not have any place in Smarty's campaign - meaning that we might not even have this as actual history for our characters! - but it was a lot of fun (for me at least). Let me first say - wow we had a lot of role to play! A LOT. TDK and Overmind, ironically, never got to play together - they just kind of missed eachother, Overmind picking up right after TDK left. The ironic thing? They're characters had a lot to say about one another... both good and bad.
Short synopsis - in the midst of a scientific experiment, a young man was accidentally dropped out of his laboratory and into the middle of a terrible storm. A strangely red woman came across him, and after they got him out from under the rubble of his once impressive machine, they struggled over to some caves, realizing they didn't speak each others' language. They stumbled into a small cave in the side of a hill where a young man had taken hiding shortly before the storm started - he spoke yet another language. Through telepathic abilities, the lot managed a sort of half-way communication. They started a fire, but had no time to enjoy it - a tornado began from the storm outside, and they hurried deeper into the Tor they'd found shelter in, through a stone door at the back. Though rats swarmed out of the door at them, they hacked their way through, hurriedly grabbed some of the burning logs, tossing them inside, and just as they were entering another man stumbled in seeking shelter from the raging tornado. With the briefest of introductions, the lot hurried inside to be warm and to talk. After a long discussion, allowing them to slowly figure out that the strange, small, skinny pale man was from another planet, the red woman from a dead empire, and the newest arrival from Westgate, they decided to go treasure hunting - since they were in ruins after all. They headed down a corridor, found a room with a door, and picked it - accidentally picking a fight with bugbears! They won... and Gasilae (the alien) had his first taste of combat against sentient creatures, something that didn't sit so well with him, as it turns out his people were all peaceful - there was no war, nor the killing of intelligent life (save by a few perverted psychos). Utlimately, the battle was hard fought, so they chose to rest for a while, under the watchful eye of Vicros, the thief who'd been in the cave when everyone first arrived. ANYHOO, that was our first, impromptu, quasi-game session. Thanks for everyone who showed up and dropped by! See you later! EDIT: AND it was a fantastic impromptu only semi-serious (mostly downright goofy) SECOND session (with different adventure, no less)! Thanks, guys, for makin' it awesome! Tomorrow at 7PM sharp until 8:30. Fair warning: I'm done by 8:30 Sunday. Peace! EDIT 2 part 1 - the general note: The wacky adventure part two rocked it! Thanks to everyone who was a part of it - fantastic fun all around (at least I think so)! You guys made a fun, memorable, silly thing! I loved every weird minute of it! EDIT 2 part 2 - the personal notes: Hey, Azisien, would you be interested in some ideas that specifically prevent your mind from being read? I've got a few ideas percolating if that's really a character build you'd be looking for. Alternatively, if you've got the gist you could put it up on mythweavers, or, if you don't have an account (it's totally free, painless, and requires nothing from you - I was very surprised!) you could PM me the details and I'll create one for you like I did Overcast. Oh, and Overcast, did you create a sheet on mythweavers, or we just going with the one I have up? It is edited, but if you want me to link yours, if you have one, just post it in this thread, and I'll use that one instead.

Hey, just wanted to know if this was still going on. I mean some of the folks haven't posted up any new sheet information for tactics to double post about and I expected our glorious leader Smarty to do more junk to make me confident. I don't like being cheated out of dice games, and if it keeps happening I swear I will kill all the puppies.
Or something along those lines, just checking in.
