Just a thought, but I would forsee choice 3 as leading to an encounter of some sort. It might go a bit easier if the premises were sanctified first?

Cause in my stupid barbarian experience, knocking down statues near undead origins usually means the statues get back up. And eat you.

I also think that the temple, having housed a glowie of undeath, could most definitely use a priest's prayer or two.
Edit: Also, being that the temple held said glowie, it would indicate that the temple was a place to lock it away (poorly) or it was a shrine for some undead nearby. If it's a crappy vault, then a prayer would probably have the guardians reward us, and if it's a shrine for nearby undead, it would probably call out for some combat against said undead.

For all the reasons posted previously I think choice 4 is best
Vote: Choice 4 because we may not get another chance to do it if we knock down the statues.
