Why does everybody always act surprised when Big Mac speaks? He's quiet most of the time yeah but he's not incapable of speaking. He spoke a full sentance in the 3rd ever episode, it's not that unnusual.

For me it wasn't so much "Big Mac speaking a full sentence" (because he's said plenty) but rather the fact that Applejack said "Yup" and "Nope" while Big Mac went into a moralistic diatribe of not wanting to speak to his younger sister that honestly seemed sort of out-of-character for him.

I mean Big Mac didn't seem nearly as upset about being forcibly brainwashed into loving Cheerilee and nearly marrying her and that was kind of more personally significant than just being the subject of a trashy news story
