I had the same reaction, actually, especially on today's comic. It's a relief. I figured every dramatic moment cumulating into The Talk Except Different every few hundred comics was the only style he knew and it's nice to see him prove me wrong.

I got a very different impression, that the bike was somehow once a unicorn that the previous owner abused or something.
