Robo isn't a type, but Spekkio said his attacks are essentially Shadow, which is to say that he has a little bit of everything plus a shadow attack.

This is true. That is, however, the draw of RPGs; any RPG character usually wins just by Potion/Equip/Special Tech loopholes.

Well, that's not really what I'm talking about here. I mean, if we were to allow Robo potions, then we'd have to give Megaman E-tanks, or Dr. Light could potentially just keep sending Eddie in with more power-ups for him. I consider the stuff he's actually wearing in terms of weapons and armour to be part of his actual abilities in the same way Rock's M Buster is part of his.

Edit: Besides, potion stuff in other RPGs works a lot less effectively outside of ATB-style systems.

Beowulf vs the T-X from Terminator 3. T-X has its plasma cannon disabled. Beowulf can bring the giant sword if necessary. T-X's power core has been replaced with something that's equally effective, but can't explode ever, eliminating any TPK potential.

The T-X has a flamethrower. Beowulf is not fireproof. Beowulf is also all about melee combat. Even if we assume that Beowulf has the giant sword, that it can cut the T-X, and that the T-X has no other weapons, he would need a shield to have any chance against the fire and two hands to use the sword. That math just doesn't add up.

He had a giant shield made specifically for this purpose at one point. Also it takes her a few seconds to morph her hand, so unless Beowulf is starting at long range, he can probably be on her first.

He's also got the option of bringing a non-giant sword, although he's probably perfectly capable of wielding the giant one with one hand given how ridiculously strong he is. Or he could just get close and go barehanded. He's probably at least as strong as the T-X itself, though the whole buzz-saw hand thing might cause some problems there. Might not though.

Then again, chain mail + buzz saw might be a bad combination for all involved.

It's worked pretty good on an invincible "weapons literally shatter on my skin" monster before, and it's being swung by a guy strong enough to tow thirty full suits of armour across the ocean by himself. In fact the only reason he bothered with the giant sword in the first place is because normal weapons couldn't so much as pierce the water troll's flesh. Certainly not due to any physical deficiency on his part. T-X is not immune to mortal weapons, she's just very durable. Ordinary steel, given enough force, still damages her body.

Anyway, the giant sword was, as I recall, the former property of a jotun. Jotuns fight gods (and I'm pretty sure Beowulf's killed a few Jotuns too, but I can't quite remember).

Samus Aran vs. Mega Man X.

Well, both have invincible attacks they can potentially spam, so I'll just assume screw attack and ultimate attack are both shut off (although X would lose that fight eventually, as he's still vulnerable for a few seconds between ultimate attacks). The thing is, a beefed up Samus can potentially sit there taking X's attacks all day, and even at her absolute base level, she can still take quite a few hits. Her main weapon has a much better firing rate, she can jump higher, she seems more agile in general, she can scan X and know all his capabilities right off the bat, and worst of all for X, she has a massive, undodgeable EMP (wave beam/missile combo). Plus even in the worst case scenario, she can always spam power bombs.

I'm tossing my hat onto the Samus pile. Not that X doesn't get a ton of sweet stuff. Samus just gets a much broader range of it.

Are we talking about the beginning of a game or the end? At the beginning I'd say its X, since all either really has is their basic cannon and their basic moves. X can slide, wall climb, and charge his buster. Samus can run, shoot, and jump.

After they are fully upgraded, then yeah... Samus wins. Her freeze beam alone would decimate X.

Played a fun game at work that people really got into. We printed off a sheet of "5 people you would bring to a bar fight with you" and pitted them against another employee's team. Then everyone else votes on the winner. It's all the RAGE now!

Samus can run

Faster than X in Super Metroid, and ungodly faster than X in the Metroid Manga.

shoot

At a much higher firing rate than X, from a much wider variety of angles.

jump

Significantly higher than X. Even without high jump boots.

wall climb

Samus can wall jump off the same wall repeatedly, so same basic effect as X's version of wall climbing.

I think you'd need to be starting her with the short beam before I'd give X majority odds.

Marv (Sin City) versus King Leonidas (300)

Leonidas stabs Marv. Marv keeps coming. Both end up dead, but I'm calling it Marv's victory because Leonidas is almost definitely dead first.

Goku versus Mew Level 100

Goku, being sportsmanlike, gives Mew the first move. Mew, knowing he can't do jack crap to Goku, uses transform. Then it's just Goku against a low-rent Goku. Goku's already a really good telepath, so I doubt even mind-fucking would work.

Arnold Schwarzenegger (Predator version) versus Snuffleupagus (Sesame Street)

I'll put my money on the mammoth who may or may not exist. Alternatively, Arnold kills Suffleupagus, and is then shut down by "concerned parents."
