I think the new one's set in the '40s believe it or not. The preview for it is so sweet. SWB, I tried PMing you about the Emulator and roms and such, but I dont think it is working. Could you send it to me via MSN Messanger?

Of course, instead of going through me, you could try a search for MSX METAL GEAR ROM or MSX EMULATOR, and you should find a few good results. Make sure to look for the translated version of Metal Gear 2 though, as there is a Japanese version.
Also, while there's a good Metal Gear 2 FAQ up on Gamefaqs.com, the MSX Metal Gear 1 FAQ seems to have been uploaded wrong, and stops short of the end. I have an earlier version, that pretty much covers the whole game, in case anyone is interested. SWB - And of course, once you play Metal Gear 2, you'll see my Avatar is not so very original. In fact, you might even spot bits of it...

Wow. You're almost as obsessed with the original Metal Gear games as I am with the original Monkey Island games. Neat.

Meh. I can hardly understand any of the Metal Gear storylines anymore. I'm just gonna avoid this one entirely.

I don't care much of the storyline (bisexual vampires, wtf!?!), as long as I get to do some bloddy stealthy action.

And I can't start Metal Gear 2 until I beat Metal Gear 1. :< Even, *IF* it does look so much cooler, seems to have a more developed plot, and a really cool opener that my current avatar is inspired by... All I do know is that Metal Gear 1 for MSX is way better than Metal Gear NES, because you don't start with that stupid & pointless maze of dogs, and you're practically on the doorstep from the get-go. Personally, what brought the whole Metal Gear storyline home for me was the December 2001 (Issue 51) copy of Playstation Magazine. It was really great for making everything clear and easy to follow. It also prompted my search for MSX roms & a MSX emulator. It also explained in depth why Metal Gear 2 for the NES is a major insult to the series. I mean the main baddie is named Higharoller Kockamamie, and even if that name isn't a bastardation of Hideo's name (same initials), its still really, *REALLY* stupid. (And don't even get me started on the "plot".) Sky Warrior Bob

I think Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes will be coming out before Metal Gear Solid 3. Of course, that's for the Gamecube, and it isn't worth getting a Gamecube for, but if you have one, it might be a worthy buy.
Of course, has anyone been checking out the portable front? I wouldn't be suprised if a portable Metal Gear was made for the Playstation Portable, or the Gameboy Advance. Plus, maybe you can find that Metal Gear Solid game for Gameboy color. I personally haven't played it, and don't think its done by Hideo (Metal Gear game designer for all the Metal Gear games), but from what I've read it isn't too bad. Sky Warrior Bob - And while not at all the same kind of animal, if you like the storyline of the Metal Gear games, you might try looking for the Zone of the Enders games, also by Hideo & Konami.

i think revolver ocelot will be in mgs3 cause he talks about the cold war in mgs2 when he was asked when he "turned" and mgs3 takes place during the cold war.
