I dunno, it's just always been Brian's style to play tricks on the reader. This one was obviously a bit stronger than previous jokes, but it's still the same premise.

What part makes you think he doesn't care about the audience, exactly? The part where he says that he plays similar jokes on his wife or girlfriend or whatever? The part where he said that he was touched by the kind and understanding fan response? The part where he promised that we'd know when the series was ending and that he's going to see it through to its proper conclusion?

It would have been a terrible ending, but it was just a joke, Christian. I respect your fandom of the series (It beats the lazy attitude of most everyone else here, that's for sure), but it would be nice if you could see that your hard feelings against Clevinger are unjustified and that there was nothing malicious about it.
