I mostly posted the story so I could yell out 'IT'S MILEY!', with some dashes of amusement mixed in. I do love me some The Soup.

Re: The Twilight Stoner:
Oh good. I wasn't the only one who thought his hygiene might have needed some work. And I wasn't even within aroma-wafting distance of him. Seriously, has anyone even LOOKED at his celebrity photos being tossed around in the tabloids? I have yet to see one where he doesn't look like he just: A) Crawled out of a dumpster, where he probably slept off the previous week's bender, or B) Just survived a ritual asskicking from the rest of his friends for being in a retarded movie that utterly annihilates anything that has to do with the mythos it supposedly derives it's story from. Now that that's out of the way... I haven't downloaded Radiohead's latest album... I might still not... but I'll probably send them a few bucks anyway simply for snubbing that insipid little fame-whore, and the other-fame whore as well. Might as well say it twice, since both Kanye and Miley fit the same description there.

It wasn't even a malicious snub. Thom Yorke is just the kind of guy who would really rather keep to himself when possible.

So Miley Cyrus is the underage "Britney-Mariah-Cristina" of the XXI century? How long have we come!
I, honestly, can't name a single music by Radiohead... i just thought they were all in that same bag together with Rage Against the machine, Limp Bizkit and Oasis, y'know? Mainstream bands that are worshiped much more than they actually were worth in the 90's And, again, i mean no offense to anyone here! But i was about to toss Pearl Jam in that bag too, but i thought -that- would be overkill... Mind you, i'm not putting Linkin Park and Nickelback in that bag, because those 2 belong to a entire different bag. |

Radiohead Mainstream?
sure, outside of the grateful dead you'd be hard pressed to find a band with staying power and notoriety that couldn't be classified as "mainstream." Do the aging hipsters cling to their obscure musical nuance like a throat cancer victim to their pack a day habit? Sure, why not, knowing something unique give you characters, adds to your identity. Does any of this change the fact that any current concept of "Cool" in relation to rock music owes it's very form and substance to one disgruntled little dude from the UK? No, not really. If you're my age, you probably remember where you were when you heard Ideoteque the first time, you remember Yorke's soulful, chilling vocals, the daring instrumentation, how new, how cool, how fucking IT it was. Radiohead, along with bands like Oasis, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, hell even bands like Green Day and The Offspring make up the "New Old Guard" and as far as many are concerned, Radiohead ruled them all. Miley Cyrus can't be snubbed by Radiohead, to be snubbed one should have had a reasonable expectation of acceptance in the first place, the point is that Radiohead is what any musician wants to be, they did it all ready, they changed the face of modern music, they left an indelible mark on the collective western consciousness. Just because you're the flavor of the month, or the year, or hell the decade, doesn't put you on equal terms with a band like Radiohead. It might sound somewhat ludicrous now, but imagine the same reaction from Paul McCartney, no one would bat an eyelash, and as of this point in history I don't think we need bat any eyelashes in this case either. |

Dear fucking Christ, did you just seriously put Radiohead on the level of Paul McCartney? I don't even have a reaction image in my library capable of conveying a proper response to that.
Radiohead as a whole doesn't come near Paul. They don't even have anything on Ringo. Or Pete Best for that matter. They're a good band, but sheesh. Also, Paul probably wouldn't have hesitated to meet Cyrus. And the Dead were more mainstream than Radiohead. Jeezus....
