Pure Pwnage and Mass Effect 2.

If you are wondering how one watches a videogame, it is the result of introducing GOTY2010 to all of your housemates while living in a one-TV household.

I'm currently introducing two friends to Qi in different paces, while catching up myself. It's a confusing mixture of season A, season B, season F and the occasional hand picked episode.

I'm not a big fan of selling people on anything (except Dokapon Kingdom for some reason), but I'll give some thoughts on the show. As you may or may not know, it's based on a dating game/visual novel, so there are a lot more girls than guys and the story arcs seem to be based on the various routes of the novel. I'd say that the writers weaved it together pretty well, though, so it's not super-transparent. As for the content of the show, it's mostly about getting over tragedy and such. It can pull on your heart-strings. When it's not trying to make you cry, it's fairly standard slap-stick comedy made amusing by decent animation and Sunohara's over-the-top voice acting. Oh, and there's some B-story about a girl in a world with no one else that _mike says will make sense by the end of the penultimate episode.

So, uh, yeah, it's pretty, the story clips along at a nice pace, the tragedy stuff is predictable but still works, and the main character's buddy has a funny voice and does funny things. If you don't enjoy it by the end of Fuko's arc, then drop it.

As for my more personal reactions to what I've seen of After Story (by the way, you'll have to watch that too, Noncon), lol subtle Fist of the North Star reference and oh god that thing with the cat was sad.

Edit: Oh, wait, I forgot that you didn't like Nanoha. You probably won't like Clannad because your heart does not beat.

Yes it does! I liked Kurenai!

Just watched the first ep of Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, and it's pretty decent so far. The whole thing with Voyeur bleeding to death was funny, and Hideyoshi Kinoshita is my favorite male character in the history of high school animu. "Why was I the only one who got a transformation sequence?" And Voyeur and his summon are snapping pictures.

House - Still hanging on. At the end of this season, I may quit watching it...

Lost - The time for questions is neverending.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Steel Runt Brotherhood - I gotta say, this is pretty awesome.

Oo kami ka ku Hassaku - Does this seriously not have arcs? People die if they are killed? I... I am interested.

Aqua Teen Foods Monster - Just took a turn for the shitful, as Aqua Teen is always in danger of doing. Guess I'm not one to pass up Aqua Teen if it's served up to me on a silver platter, but their credibility is almost gone at this point.

Archer - It's okay. It's no Frisky Dingo but I'll watch it. And since when did Hulu decide not working on Linux was such a fantastic new direction?

Yeah, saw a couple episodes of Archer.

Not too bad, but I'll save a full verdict for later.

I've just finished up Toradora! so I'm not really watching anything at the moment other than Psych, Burn Notice and Top Gear.

Man I feel like such a prototypical American in this thread. You guys are all mentioning anime series and I can count the number of anime episodes I've watched on one hand. (It's not even a matter of lack of interest, it's really a matter of complete lack of knowledge of the subject matter...like a gamer who has absolutely no clue how to play a JRPG, stumbling about questions like What's a Final Fantasy or why are they attacking in turns.)

As for what I'm watching:

*Lost. Really it's the one show I consistently make time for on a weekly basis, and for good reason. Yeah, it has its moments of cheap exploitation, but I'm like a crack addict when it comes to Lost. I can't get enough.
It helps that, despite the crazy mythology in the series, the actors are just so talented. Seriously, the quality of the characters makes up for the lack of quality of some plot twists. I love Terry O'Quinn, Micheal Emerson, Josh Holloway and Daniel Dae Kim's performances in particular.
To a lesser but still notable extent, I'm also a fan of Henry Ian Cusick, Naveen Andrews and Nestor Carbonell. Strangely, Lost is one of those shows where I've generally found the male actors significantly more talented than the female actresses. Whether that's just because that's the way the predominantly-male TPTB have written 'em, or whether it's the fault of the actresses themselves, I don't really know.

*Futurama. Every twelve to eighteen months I go back and I watch this show's episodes in their order of release. It's that time again. It serves as a nice distraction from my studies. I love the TV episodes but never got into any of the DVD "movie" releases, for whatever reason.

*The Colbert Report. These days I prefer it vastly over the Daily Show, though Jon Stewart still has occasional moments of brilliance. Colbert just seems to have been more consistent in quality lately. I find Stewart best when he's on point -- snarky, yes, dry and witty, but dead serious in his analyses, like when he recently blasted the Democratic party for wilting away during their supermajority -- and that's a rarity in his comedy routine, whereas I prefer Colbert when he's acting like a ludicrous blowhard, and he's always playing the part.

*Glee. New episodes are coming back soon: I'm looking forward to it.

*It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Again, this shouldn't really count because new episodes aren't being released at the moment, but every year I do make time in my schedule for the gang at Paddy's.

*Zombieland. A movie, not a television series, but I picked it up on DVD recently, bought some popcorn, watched it with a friend, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Though Woody Harrelson single-handedly made the movie. Without him, it's a bust.
