Yeah he's not too great considering frequently it just turns into "HAHAHAHA SHIT SHIT FUCK FUCK HAHA I'M FUNNY" but when he drops that and just talks about gaming and reviews, he can make some good stuff.
This was mostly a "Holyshit" thread about the fact that Atari made a video game that you could play and win golden medieval treasure.

Well, to be honest to the Swordquest deal itself... that IS something gaming companies should actually do more. I mean, people love leaderboards and online content in their games nowadays, so why not?
Launch a game, and make a promotion that 1 year after launch, the top 3 players in the game will win something awesome (like a freaking Golden Sword with diamons, holy shit!) and then, you launch some DLC and those who buy the DLC are now in for a new Round. Do shit like this and i can easily see any game skyrocketing their sales at least a bit |

The real badassery is in the fact that it wasn't a cash prize, it was gold and bejeweled treasure.
Like they could have just written a check like most company-sponsored contests. But they went all out and forged golden items.

Every day you say forged, you don't get laid that night.

Quick question.... if you were to revitalize this type of promotion in today's gaming, and had a 20~30k budget to work out a Prize, what would you guys pick?

Yo bit, my mum is a classy bitch, she is a professional author and totally out of your league. Unless you had like a 40 ft pole.
Hookers. GTA 5- that'll be the prize. |

Mass Effect 3. I'd buy a cheap sedan or SUV and turn it into a Mako. :p They'll give me a discount to within budget because we completely fucked up the steering and such.
