What you're not seeing are the PMs involved and the fact that this user has chosen to use images I have made without permission or care for the fact that I've asked people never to do that. And there was nowhere else to get the image but my website, as I made it. -- also admitted by the user.

I got the signature images years ago through this thing called the internet, and have been using them on various forums ever since. The particular signature in question has been used by me expressly on my own forum for years, on maplestory forums, travian forums, orgonite forums, etc. I was nice to synkr0nized and thanked him for his excellent artwork, but I will not be bullied or harassed into changing my signatures just because the artist who created them has a problem with it. If synkr0nized was so concerned about random people who never speak to him using his images for their own non-copyright infringing purposes, then he shouldn't have posted them on the internet available through google images when you look for signatures. It also seems double inane considering we're on a forums for a web-comic that lived off of using non-copyright infringing artwork for their own purposes.

This thread was made by my girlfriend, but I, the creator of the account, also formerly the account LordZoma YEARS ago, have been using that synk signature for a while. He calls it stealing his identity, which I find thoroughly laughable. It's a great picture. Having other people use it is an inevitability when you create good art. Be happy, not annoyed.

Also, I had no idea that synkr0nized used this forum at all, and lets see, it only took him a few years to stumble across me. If he's gonna get his panties all in a bundle, like removing my capability to access a signature, I may just have to stick around and chat on the forum more often. It's not hard to insert an image into every post, and I'd be hard pressed to find a rule somewhere that says synkronized has the authority to alter my signature settings or ban me from the forum for posting artwork.

I won't be bullied around by someone who has an issue with the freedom of other people. It's a matter of principle, not ownership.

There's also a matter of personal respect, Buu. Google is a cold, unfeeling system that doesn't care about the thoughts and feelings of people. In the event the original artist has a complaint, copyright law states they are able to protect their own work. True, once you put something online, it is largely out of your hands, but that's only because you don't have access to the people who find it. In the event of a meeting, it's most respectful to honor the artist's wishes.

It IS a matter of principle, but it's a matter of principle for both sides, and I believe Synk when he says he tried being nice about it. It's best in these cases to step aside when approached and not let things escalate like this.

If you use the exact same sig as a moderator, it could certainly lead to mix-ups, so it's a potential issue, and if you insist on continuing to use it (as you did) then we're going to cut you off from the ability to do it.

Also, you know now that synk isn't exactly pleased about you using these images, and now you're demonstratively posting all of them again and announcing that you're going to continue to do it. We do have the trolling rule for that. It doesn't matter whether your goal is to get the entire forum or just one person angry. Take some time off.

That was me. Actually, you can't edit your profile at all.

This user clearly doesn't understand copyright. I was quite pleasant with you about changing it; there was no bullying or harassment. But you felt inclined to ignore my requests as if anything being posted publicly = anyone can claim it. I'm not stupid -- I know how easy it is to go gallivanting around the Internetmotronmachine doing as one pleases. That doesn't make it right, and it certainly doesn't mean you can hide behind such weak excuses when you're confronted about it.

An image being crawled by a search engine spider and indexed does not make it free to use. Copyright on the Internet allows a user to share his or her works on a web page knowing full well that he or she is within his or her rights as the author/creator to claim the copyright and prohibit others from using them. This is even more true when the author explicitly claims said copyright on the pages where the images in question are displayed, as I did.

Also you keep insisting that you've been using this particular image for "YEARS" when it's barely over two years old. Judging from your accounts on other forum boards, you've merely been linking to whatever sig I put into my rotation. Nice work, ace.

Also, lol'ing at the fact that using a signature with my online handle in it apparently has been cool with you for a few years. I put "synkr0nized" into all of my signatures, the current one included. And yet you're not associating with my identity, eh? GG on using my URL, too, and not even rehosting, further associating yourself.

Bah, I said banning you wouldn't make any difference, but at least I don't have to put up with your posts and PMs.
